Job Title - Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor in Business Analytics (2 positions) (Job ID: 6049) - Organizational Unit - University of the Free State -> Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences -> Office of the Dean: Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences - Contract Type - Permanent - Occupational Level - Middle Management - Location - Bloemfontein Campus - Bloemfontein, FS ZA (Primary) - Closing Date - 16/3/2025 - Description **Duties and responsibilities**: - Provide supervision to postgraduate students, namely Honours, Master’s and PhD students. - Lecture Business Analytics to postgraduate and undergraduate students. - Provide capacity building in Business Analytics as a recognised discipline within the UFS. - Develop and refine the curriculum associated with Business Analytics. - Collaborate with relevant staff members in the Business Analytics domain. - Develop Business Analytics research projects, as well as interdisciplinary projects with relevant departments and centres, such as the UFS Interdisciplinary Centre for Digital Futures and the Department of Economics and Finance. - Conduct research in the field of Business Analytics and deliver quality research outputs in the form of accredited articles, book chapters, books and conference papers, and in line with the research strategy of the faculty. - Serve as a member of various academic committees and perform any other tasks allocated by the Dean. **Additional duties and responsibilities for Professor and Associate Professor levels**: - Provide leadership in pursuit of the department and faculty strategic plan with regard to research, teaching, engaged scholarship and leadership and administration. - Attend and speak at national and especially international conferences, research colloquia, workshops and seminars to enhance research and disciplinary knowledge. - Participate in community activities such as mentorship and provide training and short courses in the areas of specialisation. - Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with relevant research, civil society, government, industry and professional organisations. **Inherent requirements**: **Lecturer** - PhD on NQF Level 10 with a background in a quantitative field of study (data science, computer science, actuarial science, statistics, mathematics, econometrics) where the quantitative discipline is applied to the business context (e.g. economics, finance or banking) (for a permanent appointment). **or** - A Master’s degree on NQF Level 9 with a background in a quantitative field of study (data science, computer science, actuarial science, statistics, mathematics, econometrics) (contract appointment: five years during which a PhD on NQF Level 10 with a background in a quantitative field of study (data science, computer science, actuarial science, statistics, mathematics, econometrics) where the quantitative discipline is applied to the business context (e.g. economics, finance or banking) MUST be obtained to be converted to a permanent position). - Proven experience in the delivery of poster or oral presentations at conferences or equivalent activities. - Evidence of manuscripts produced that have the potential to be converted or submitted for publication in accredited journals. - A good academic record (attach a copy). **Senior Lecturer** - PhD on NQF Level 10 with a background in a quantitative field of study (data science, computer science, actuarial science, statistics, mathematics, econometrics) where the quantitative discipline is applied to the business context (e.g. economics, finance or banking). - Proven experience in the presentation of papers/posters at national scholarly conferences. - Proven national recognition for specialist expertise and research in a specific area of scholarship. - An NRF rating or demonstrated potential for obtaining an NRF rating within the next three years. - Proven experience in supervision of graduated master’s degree students. - A proven research record of relevant publication/s in peer reviewed national and international accredited scientific journals. - Proven experience of service as an active member of a national or international scholarly society or committee or agency concerned with research at higher-education levels. **Associate Professor** - PhD on NQF Level 10 with a background in a quantitative field of study (data science, computer science, actuarial science, statistics, mathematics, econometrics) where the quantitative discipline is applied to the business context (e.g. economics, finance or banking). - Proven work experience in higher education. - Experience as external examiner for postgraduate students - Proven experience in the presentation of research papers at national conferences, where there is evidence of peer review of papers. - Acted as an editorial board member of high-quality national scholarly journals. - Proven national recognition for specialist expertise and research leadersh
