Rondebosch Boys’ Preparatory School seeks to appoint an enthusiastic and innovative **School Librarian** with a strong background in English to join our dedicated team.

**Starting date**:1 January 2026

**Minimum Requirements**:
**Qualifications and Relevant Experience**
- A recognised teaching qualification with **English as a major**.
- **7 years or more teaching experience**, including teaching **Grade 6 and 7 English**.
- Experience in promoting literacy and reading development in a school environment.
- Strong organisational, administrative and ICT skills.
- A passion for children’s literature and creating a reading culture.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

**Preferred Attributes**
- Additional training or certification in inclusive education or learner support.
- Demonstrated ability to implement innovative and engaging teaching strategies.
- A collaborative approach to working within a team.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Key Responsibilities**:

- Manage and develop the school library as a welcoming, inclusive and resource-rich environment.
- Promote a culture of reading and inquiry across the school.
- Support learners in developing research, literacy and critical thinking skills.
- Teach **Grade 6 and 7 English**, ensuring a strong foundation in literacy and language skills.
- Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into English and other curriculum areas.
- Plan and lead literacy-focused activities, book clubs and reading programmes.
- Ensure the library collection is current, diverse and relevant to learners’ needs.
- Contribute actively to the school’s **sport and extramural programme**.
