Dental Assistant

**Job Title**: Dental Assistant **(with ortho experience)**

**About the Role**

**Key Responsibilities**
- Prepare and escort patients, take medical/dental history, and provide oral hygiene education.
- Perform chairside assistance (four-handed dentistry) and support orthodontic procedures (bracket placement, archwire changes, ligatures, cephalometric tracings, etc.).
- Prepare dental trays, sterilize instruments, and maintain infection control standards.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as treatment planning, patient records, appointment confirmations, and medical aid authorizations.
- Monitor dental room functionality and maintain inventory of instruments and consumables.
- Liaise with laboratories and assist with theatre scheduling when required.
- Ensure compliance with all clinic protocols and regulatory requirements.

**Requirements**:

- Certificate in Dental Assisting (or equivalent).
- **Active HPCSA registration** (essential).
- Previous experience in a general dentistry practice.
- **Proven orthodontic experience (essential).**:

- Knowledge of infection control and sterilization procedures.
- Experience with four-handed chairside assisting.
- Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Word & Excel).
