**Role Overview**

The General Maintenance Worker is responsible for the daily upkeep, repair, and preventative maintenance of the hotel’s facilities and equipment. The role ensures that all guest areas, back-of-house spaces, and operational systems are safe, functional, and well-maintained to deliver a smooth and comfortable guest experience.

**Key Responsibilities**

**1. Daily Maintenance & Repairs**
- Carry out routine inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and service areas.
- Perform minor repairs on plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and fixtures.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff or guests.

**2. Preventative Maintenance**
- Assist in scheduled inspections and servicing of equipment (e.g., boilers, air conditioning units, kitchen appliances).
- Maintain maintenance logs and report recurring issues to the Maintenance Manager.

**3. Safety & Compliance**
- Follow health & safety policies and ensure safe working practices.
- Assist with fire safety checks, emergency lighting tests, and other compliance requirements.
- Report hazards or unsafe conditions immediately.

**4. Hotel Support**
- Assist other departments with event setup, furniture moving, or urgent repairs.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and workshop areas in good order.

**5. Guest Interaction**
- Provide courteous assistance when addressing guest maintenance concerns.
- Work discreetly in occupied rooms, respecting guest privacy and comfort.

**Skills & Requirements**

**Essential**:

- Experience in general maintenance, building services, or a similar role.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems quickly.
- Good communication skills and customer-friendly manner.

**Desirable**:

- Trade certifications (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry).
- Previous hotel or hospitality industry experience.

**Personal Attributes**
- Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated.
- Safety-conscious with attention to detail.
- Flexible and able to work on multiple tasks in a busy environment.
- Team player with a practical, hands-on approach.

**Working Conditions**
- Shifts may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
- Work involves standing, bending, lifting, and working in varied environments (indoor/outdoor).

Pay: From R15 000,00 per month

License/Certification:
