Data Managers X 2

**Main purpose of the job**:

- To lead the data processing and management activities in the Climate and Health Directorate
- This entails creating standard operating procedures, overseeing data collection, and guaranteeing the quality control of research databases
- This role also includes delivering analysis output for climate and health research projects

**Location**:

- **Pretoria - Tshwane**

**Key performance areas**:

- Provide technical input into the database design for Climate and Health
- Develop databases according to design specifications provided by the Climate and Health team Develop and implement databases
- Develop and implement data management work plans and SOPs
- Provide support and training on databases
- Monitor and evaluate captured data on database systems for accuracy and timeliness, including quality control of entered data
- Ensure all data complies with ethical and GCP requirements and SOPs
- Oversee maintenance of clinic files and archiving
- Participate in and represent the data management team at meetings as required
- Process and produce accurate data reports within required timeframes
- Line management of data capturers
- Coach and train other members of the team to ensure knowledge and skills development
- Promote harmony, teamwork, and sharing of information
- Take ownership and accountability for tasks and demonstrates effective self-management
- Consistently maintain quality and productivity standards
- Maintain a positive attitude and respond openly to feedback
- Drive own career development through continuous learning and development activities

**Required minimum education and training**:

- **Qualification in Information Technology or Statistics (or equivalent qualification) is necessary**:

- **A Master's Degree in Public Health or Epidemiology is preferred**:

- **Solid understanding of Python and proficiency in a diverse range of database systems such as Redcap, SQL Postgres, Oracle, MongoDB, and MySQL**:

- **Certifications in Data Analysis and Data Engineering Technologies, including but not limited to, STATA, SAS, and R are preferred**:

- **A valid driver’s license**

**Required minimum Experience**:

- **Minimum 3 years of experience in Data Management, Analysis, and Reporting**

**Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities**:

- Experience implementing and managing M&E systems
- Working with donor-driven programs
- M&E capacity building and mentoring
- Report writing M&E plan development and target setting
- Recognized qualifications in MS SQL Server technologies advantageous
- Knowledge/awareness of data warehousing theory and methodologies
- Knowledge/awareness and skills in data modeling, and or database architecture design advantageous
- Good understanding of Data Quality and ability to develop data quality reporting mechanism
- Demonstrated leadership, management, and change management abilities, including the ability to manage a diverse team
- Be a proactive agent influencing positive change with external stakeholders with the ability to develop and maintain relationships at all levels of Wits RHI and partner organizations
- Positive, energetic team leader with an ability to adapt to complex situations, manage stress, and deliver goals proactively
- Organized with a thorough and accurate approach to work, attention to detail
