About the role

The role will be responsible for testing raw materials and/or finished product and/ or stability product according to material specifications.

To perform peer reviewing of analytical raw data to ensure that testing has been completed as per material specification and laboratory policies and procedures.

Key responsibilities
- Tests raw materials and/or finished product and/ or stability product as per documented Specifications and Analytical Methods.
- Analyse a broad range of product types API, Excipient, Tablets, Capsules, Sachets and Powder formulation.
- Performs analysis using wet chemical techniques and instrumental methods of analysis (HPLC, GC) as applicable.
- Performs analysis using wet chemical techniques and instrumental methods of analysis (HPLC, GC) as applicable.
- Reviews results for accuracy and reports any anomalies or deviations to Cell Lead(s) and/or Supervisor(s) or Laboratory Lead.
- Tests compliance samples of Site systems (Purified water, gasses, steam, etc.) as per documented procedures.
- Ensures achievement of Site Objectives with respect to Risk Management and QMS.
- Performs peer reviewing of analytical raw data generated by other analysts on a rotational basis or as required by Cell Lead or Supervisor. For example, analysts will be required to perform peer reviewing every 5th week and the other weeks perform analyst duties. NOTE: Analysts cannot peer review his/her own work, peer reviewing must be performed by an independent analyst who did not perform the testing or was involved with the testing.
- To be flexible for temporary seconded in other process streams within laboratories once the required training has been completed.
- Ensures achievement of Site Objectives with respect to Risk Management and QMS.

Qualifications and skills

Essential

Basic Qualifications:

- Tertiary qualification BSc (Chemistry) or National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry.
- 2 years’ laboratory experience.
- Experience in the analysis of a broad range of product types.
- Proficiency in use of wet chemical and instrumental analytical techniques.

Preferred
- Testing in pharmaceutical laboratories is preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding of GMP, QMS, Cape Town SOPs and Processes, and Regulatory requirements.
- Independent thinking is required for organization and completion of responsibilities.
