Who are we?

We operate the various technology platforms and shared services, ensure Cyber and Information Security resilience, and act as technology governance and risk orchestrator for technology across Sanlam. What will you do?
The Analytics Technical Lead will consult and provide technical solutions to meet the Sanlam requirements, improve system performance and address chronic issues.
Guided by Architecture and other Technical Leads, you will be responsible for establishing new technology components and reusable solution patterns that can be leveraged by business-facing development teams in their day-to-day solutions. You are regarded as an IT specialist with advanced analytical and technical skills.
You should be able to communicate technical information to technical teams and be competent in communicating challenges and solutions to project and operational leadership. What will make you successful in this role?
- Establish a consumption tool centre of excellence.
- Form relationships and orchestrate delivery with key technical stakeholders across our business including architects.
- Engage with technology vendors and external technical experts when conceptualising, designing, or implementing technical solutions.
- Ability to create efficient best practices and establish suitable processes to ensure effective environment and solution management.
- Provide technical leadership for the consumption tool teams.
- Put in place best practices and processes to ensure platform stability and performance.
- Work with the consumption tool teams on monitoring and other requirements.
- Ensure security is implemented according to Sanlam’s security standards through regular reviews.
- Make business stakeholders aware of what of the comparative analysis across the consumption tools.
- Evaluate consumption tool releases and new product features.
- Interact with development teams and provide guidance, best practices and industry standards to enable good report and dashboard development.
- Design, document, and communicate technical solutions that deliver on business requirements.
- Constant refinement to standardize and implement new functionality based on experience and lessons learnt.
- Troubleshoot technical issues such as database non-performance, integration failures and code failures. Qualifications
- Grade 12
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, Engineering, or another quantitative field / National Diploma in an Information Technology related discipline preferred.

Knowledge
- Understanding of Standards, Best Practices, procedures, and Key Metrics to enhance operational and Platform Stability
- Familiarity with the use cases, business purposes and quality of the data.
- Understanding of SDLC, code management / standards / re use, release management, project management, and API integration
- Understanding of Multitenancy
- Proficient in SQL and MDX (Critical)
- Exposure to SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) will be an advantage
- Exposure to SAP HANA, MS SQL and DB2
- Knowledge of other consumption tools (i.e., Business Objects, Qlikview, QlikSense, Power BI and Domo) will be an advantage
- Application and analytics background with a solid background in SQL is required

Experience
- Solid Agile development experience
- Performance Tuning Experience
- Proven track record in working with Architects, BI developers and end users
- General working experience in financial institutions is recommended
