To build a more agile and resilient Supply Chain the commoditized execution and digitalisation of processes is a key focus whilst driving operational excellence.
This Physical Supply Chain (PSC) team is responsible for managing all materials planning, inventory, warehousing and logistics across the South African region. The team works with operational stakeholders and Supply Chain commercial teams to assess future demands and develop materials strategies and plans that will fulfil needs whilst keeping working capital as low as possible.
At present each BU runs its own PSC network in a siloed manner, resulting in approximately 47 discrete storage locations with limited sharing of inventory. The integration and optimization of the network across BU boundaries, with a more strategic material planning capability, will have significant benefits and will be the immediate focus.
**Job Description**:
The immediate priority of this role is to enable integrated planning practices with the aim of ensuring optimal parts availability through streamlined physical networks to achieve step-change performance.
- Drive and manage innovative material requirements planning, demand planning and inventory management activities to deliver an optimal warehouse network, sustainable cost and working capital reductions as well as continuity of available parts across the regional operations
- Translate the Physical Supply Chain business strategy into a Materials Planning strategy that defines critical tasks, performance targets, plans and budgets with consideration of risk identification
- Manage and advise a regional team of specialists.
- Embrace an agile Supply Chain by being adaptive and flexible to accommodate and focus on emerging and changing business priorities.
- Define and embed appropriate technologies to drive data based decision making and systems automation efficiencies.
- Continuously identify network and inventory optimisation opportunities to drive down working capital while increasing speed to deliver.
- Drive and ensure the implementation of materials planning capabilities in the Supply Chain teams through effective change management principles.
- Responsible for sustainable value delivery planning and provide strategic input into frontloading, identification and sizing of initiatives relating to working capital benefits.
- Ensure that all activities related to inventory optimization events are planned, scheduled, resourced and executed in a timely and visible manner.
- Ensure inventory optimisation to decrease wastage at the operations by holding the right amount of inventory thereby positively impacting Anglo American’s carbon footprint.
- Provide leadership and advice to stakeholders regarding MRP and demand planning processes.
- Influence leadership and stakeholders with respect to best practices relating to inventory and network optimization.
Qualifications**
Qualification**: An undergraduate qualification - Bachelor degree level or equivalent
**Experience**:10 years experience in Demand Planning Management, Materials Management and Inventory Management gained on a Global Level.
**Desirable**: A postgraduate qualification (Honours/ Masters degree or equivalent) in a relevant discipline OR a proven track record of extensive practical experience in a role and context of similar complexity.
**Technical Knowledge**:
- 10 years experience of Inventory optimisation in senior management.
- Inventory management experience in an industry with a complex inventory profile, high criticality items and rigorous policy requirements
- Experience of developing and implementing policies, standards, KPIs & procedures across a global multi-divisional corporation
- Experience in demand forecasting and planning abilities
- Ability to process and manage high complexity scenarios and projects.
- Good working knowledge of materials planning systematic capabilities and systems, i.e., demand algorithms and statistical model
