System Analyst

Role Purpose
Requirements

At least 5 years’ experience in Software Engineering

2-3 years’ testing experience

Exposure to system testing with a focus on automation

Exposure to diverse IT solution implementation in a variety of environments, system maintenance and system analysis

Experience in continuous delivery & deployment
Duties & Responsibilities

Analyse the integrity of system requirements and perform impact assessments to ensure that relevant systems operate in accordance with business expectations.

Document and maintain the set of system requirements together with the associated rationale, effort, decisions, dependencies and assumptions in line with business requirements.

Create and maintain functional requirements specifications for relevant systems to ensure systems run as needed.

Work with business stakeholders, architects, developers and business analysts to understand system requirements and the system landscape to ensure alignment to business expectations.

Define the scope of the system and customer and quality parameters to ensure alignment to requirements.

Ensure adequate unit tests are performed for all configuration and development tasks and ensure results are successful.

Ensure testing yields an acceptable level of performance for the changes being delivered and the system is not adversely affected.

Keep abreast of business changes and internal system developments to ensure that all new processes align to best practices and system architecture.

Identify, investigate and analyse system problems and propose relevant and documented solutions that resolve any apparent conflicts.

Monitor system stability in order identify errors and liaise with the relevant stakeholder to investigate, assess the impact and recommend sustainable solutions for resolution.

Monitor and maintain system processes and data integrity, ensuring that system is functioning optimally.

Investigate and propose process optimisation opportunities in the context of best practice and improved operational efficiency.

Assist in the identification of risks and issues pertaining to the implementation of the solution requirements and partner with stakeholders to mitigate these.

Notify relevant stakeholders timeously of planned changes and ensure that areas of user technical / system training are identified to ensure smooth operations.

Document UAT test scenarios, test cases and test scripts with the business analysis team to ensure business requirements are met.

Oversee the complete test cycle of software development, from requirements testing to user acceptance and release testing.

Operationalise testing strategy in line with best practice standards to ensure alignment between testing and development activities.

Define testing objectives and quality criteria to plan for testing at different stages of the development cycle to reduce potential for error.

Implement defect tracking and test case management systems to document test sets, defects and record test case execution results.

Collaborate with various teams to ensure that all testing related work is carried out as per defined standards and procedures.
