Requirements
- BTech or B degree in Mechanical engineering
- Eight (8) years’ experience in a maintenance environment

with specific reference to infrastructure asset

management, contract management and operational

management
- Minimum of five (5) years’ supervisory and managing of

mechanical maintenance team(s) experience
- Ability to analyse, develop, integrate, implement

management systems and compile technical reports
- Sound knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety

Act 85 of 1993
- Knowledge of local government systems and procedures

will be advantageous
- Valid driver’s licence.

Key Performance Areas
- Manage the key performance areas and responsibilities

associated with mechanical repairs and maintenance, fault

finding and infrastructure upgrades for all bulk water,

waste water and reticulation plants through infrastructure

asset management, contract management and operational

management
- Responsible for the implementation of maintenance management

(directing and controlling) for the mechanical stream, technical

and operational outcomes associated with infrastructure asset

management
- Ensure the effective management of mechanical repairs and

maintenance, fault finding and infrastructure upgrades for all

WATER AND SANITATION plant and equipment
- Manage the operational dimensions and resources (staff, materials,

plant and vehicle, decentralised depot operations) and monitors

utilisation and cost effectiveness of activities against

operational plans
- Manage the formulation and specification of specific contracts,

tender documents and deviation reports, controlling and

implementing contractual obligations for all repairs (breakdowns

and fault finding) and maintenance and infrastructure upgrades

for mechanical engineering
