**Job Advert Summary**:
**This is a one year contract position.**

**Minimum Requirements**:

- A qualification in journalism, video production, or a related field.
- Proficiency in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro and/or DaVinci Resolve (agility in these platforms is a must).
- Strong storytelling skills, with the ability to communicate ideas visually and craft compelling narratives with a journalistic approach.
- Attention to detail and a keen eye for visual aesthetics.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication, time-management and organisational skills.
- A portfolio that demonstrates your video editing skills, creativity, and storytelling ability.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Edit and produce high-quality video content for YouTube, social media, and TikTok.
- Work closely with the creative team to conceptualise and execute video ideas that align with the Daily Maverick brand’s tone and style.
- Collaborate with other team members, including Daily Maverick designers, to ensure that all content is consistent across different platforms.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest video editing software, techniques, and trends to maintain a high level of creativity and innovation.
- Manage video projects from start to finish, including organising footage, selecting music and sound effects, and adding visual effects and text overlays.
- Incorporate journalistic storytelling to create content that resonates with viewers and communicates key messages effectively.
- Meet project deadlines and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- With your editor’s guidance and your team’s support, continuously evaluate and improve the quality of video content to increase engagement and viewership.
