NACOSA is a networking organisation that brings communities together to tackle HIV and its impact on vulnerable people. We have a 20-year track record of working with donors, government and communities to strengthen community systems and turn the tide on HIV, AIDS and TB.

With a thorough understanding of the Global Fund Adolescent and Young People “My Journey” Programme in the Klipfontein sub-district of the City of Cape Town, the Programme Specialist will be responsible to:

- Coordinate and manage the project on behalf of NACOSA over a 3 year period and ensure all project deliverables are met.
- Collaborate with UWC on all elements of the project implementation plan.
- Manage the conceptualization and development of project learning materials to support the peer learning process.
- Manage a small grant funding process to local organisations and institutions to support the introduction of gender transformation measures into their practice
- Assist in the analysis of the projects’ performance and actively contribute towards the research agenda of the project, including monitoring, evaluations and publications.
- Network with, and build strategic alliances and relationships with key stakeholders involved in the project in the local, national and international environment.
- A minimum of Bachelor Degree in gender studies, sociology, social work, development studies, and other related social science fields. Master’s degree is preferable and an advantage;
- At least 3 - 5 years direct experience in gender and women empowerment area;
- Knowledge and exposure to a range of gender mainstreaming & gender development issues;
- Ability to evaluate and integrate gender transformative strategies into broader programme strategies;
- Project management skills, training and facilitation experience, networking & partnership, and interpersonal skills;
- Experience in developing training materials and experience in report writing;
- Experience of working on gender issues in like-minded NGO’s and developmental areas;
- Knowledge of HIV prevention and sexual and reproductive health is an advantage;
- Excellent communications skills in English;
- Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with web-based data system;
- Highly organised, deadline driven and efficient with planning skills and a proactive and positive approach;
- Ability to work well in a team environment, with a variety of internal and external stakeholders;
- Valid South African Driver’s license.
