Medical Aid rate based on principal member only) - To be confirmed - Advert Closing Date - 10/8/2025 - Job Purpose The Department of Sport Management in the Faculty of Business and Management Sciences has a position for a Lab Assistant: Sport Performance Lab at the Newlands campus - Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience - Advanced Diploma in Sport & Leisure Management and / or equivalent (Bachelors degree in Sport Managment or Sport Science) - 6 months and more experience and expertise in using sport science testing equipment (e.g., metabolic analysers, EMG, EEG, biomechanics cameras, isokinetic devices, etc.). - Demonstrated ability to conduct research testing and training in a sport science context. - Proven experience working with students in practical’s, tutorials, lectures, and research supervision. - Strong administration and project management skills. **Recommended**: - Registration for postgraduate studies in Sport & Leisure Management will be an added advantage - Working, voluntary or internship experience in sport management research projects or industry - Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities - Experience in research testing, data collection - Knowledge of various testing equipment and ability to conduct tests - Assist researchers, staff, students and Biokineticists relating to research projects in the SPL - Provide advice and technical assistance to students and researchers aligned with SPL practicals and special projects - Administer control over SPL equipment and defect checking of equipment - Administer student practical’s and classes, setting out apparatus and equipment for test, demonstrations - Health and Safety - ensuring researchers, staff and students work according to safety standards in the SPL - Perform administrative and project management duties aligned with the SPL and related research projects. - Competencies - Excellent organisations skills, a commitment towards teaching continuous learning and assessment, strong learner focus.
