**Key Responsibilities**:
**Develop and Implement Safety Policies**:
Formulate safety policies in accordance with South African laws and industry standards.
Update policies regularly to ensure compliance with new regulations.

**Conduct Risk Assessments**:
Perform comprehensive risk assessments on construction sites.
Identify potential hazards and implement mitigation strategies.

**Ensure Regulatory Compliance**:
Ensure all operations comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and Construction Regulations.
Maintain up-to-date records of compliance documentation.

**Training and Education**:
Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees and contractors.
Ensure all personnel are aware of safety procedures and regulations.

**Accident Investigation**:
Lead investigations into workplace accidents and incidents.
Prepare reports and recommend measures to prevent recurrences.

**Safety Audits and Inspections**:
Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of construction sites.
Identify non-compliance issues and ensure corrective actions are taken promptly.

**Emergency Preparedness**:
Develop and implement emergency response plans.
Conduct drills and training sessions to ensure readiness in case of emergencies.

**Safety Performance Monitoring**:
Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics.
Report on safety performance to management and recommend improvements.

**Liaison with Authorities**:
Communicate with regulatory bodies and ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.
Keep abreast of new developments in health and safety legislation.

**Incumbent must have knowledge of the following**:
