Merchandise Coordinator

The merchandise coordinator is someone who has experience with a clothing supplier or fashion retailer. In addition, this person needs to be highly organised, a “go-getter,” and can negotiate with suppliers, local and international. Effective communication and assertiveness are key attributes required for this position.
**Responsibilities**:
Develop and manage the event merchandise product line, including design, sourcing, and pricing.
As part of the research and development team, you will be required to work closely with the category designers to develop suitable products for event merchandise.
Ensure that merchandise designs align with the event's brand and target audience.
Work with vendors to negotiate pricing, minimum order quantities, and delivery schedules.
Coordinate with the logistics team to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of products to event locations.
Work closely with the marketing and sales team on strategies to increase revenue and profitability within the event merchandise scope.
Manage inventory levels to ensure adequate stock levels for events while minimizing excess inventory.
Analyse sales data to identify trends and adjust merchandise offerings accordingly.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, and logistics, to achieve company objectives.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices related to event merchandise.
Develop, enhance, and monitor supplier relationship performance through regular Supplier Business Performance reviews.
Work closely with suppliers to place and manage orders.
Develop systems to streamline the merch process.
**Main deliverables**:
Deliver complete merchandise ranges on time for each event.
Deliver the required GP and retail price points relevant to each event
Grow the category and merchandise portfolio and streamline the workflow between departments.
**Requirements**:
Tertiary qualification in clothing technology, fashion design, or a similar field.
Two-plus years of experience in sourcing, buying, or product development in the fashion/apparel industry.
Knowledge of product supply and manufacturing.
Strong negotiation skills with the ability to manage vendor relationships effectively.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to drive decision-making.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools.
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Assertiveness and influencing ability.
Highly energetic and able to function in a high-pressure environment.
Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
Must be able to handle numerous projects simultaneously and meet fast turnaround deadlines focusing on delivering results.
Good problem-solving skills.
