**FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCES**

**POST GRADUATE STUDIES COORDINATOR/RESEARCH OFFICER (REF : R230)**: DURBAN**

***The Research Officer supports the Research Office and Executive Dean/Deputy Dean in providing efficient research and postgraduate support systems for both staff and students and ensure all postgraduate processes and systems are aligned to institutional initiatives and imperatives.

***MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**
- M+4 Honours/ B Tech Degree in Office Management or an equivalent
- Three years proven experience in postgraduate programme administration, financials and report writing
- Experience in dealing with Post Graduate examination process
- A Master's Degree would be an advantage.

***KNOWLEDGE AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS**
- A commanding knowledge of IT systems and sound knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Planning and organizational skills
- Understanding of academic administration in the Higher Education environment (Higher Education Act/Statute/Rules SAQA, NQF and HEQSF
- The ability to record, document and report on proceedings at various platforms and committee meetings

***SUMMARY OF DUTIES**
- Align with institutional postgraduate policies and procedures
- Fulfil all administrative duties required by the Faculty Research Office
- Fulfil administrative tasks related to postgraduate documentation, records and postgraduate examination
- Fulfil administrative tasks related to research-related funding/ scholarships/ claims and payments
- Capture accurate data on relevant institutional IT systems
- Produce timely reports based on data
- Maintain timely liaison with departments and students to address research-related queries
- Offer administrative support to Faculty research-active staff and students
- Maintain sound relationships with staff, colleagues, postgraduate students (current and prospective, committees, internal, external and international associates (supervisors/ examiners/ guest researchers) and service providers, as well as contributes to team effort
- Co-ordinate research workshops, meetings, and information sessions on and off campus

**Status of Position**:Permanent
