The River Guardians form a crucial part of the reserve’s protection and monitoring unit, responsible for daily patrols, wildlife data collection, and supporting anti-poaching efforts. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about conservation, fieldwork, and hands-on protection of wild spaces.
**Responsibilities**:
Conduct daily patrols and wildlife monitoring.
Record and report species sightings, behaviour, and habitat use.
Support ecological and conservation projects.
Detect and report illegal activities (poaching, trespassing, snaring).
Assist in environmental management (fencing, firebreaks, water sources).
Promote safety and conservation awareness among guests and local communities.
**Salary**: Competitive, dependent on experience
**Package Includes**:
Live-in accommodation during rotation
Meals provided
6-8 weeks on / 10-14 days off rotation

Matric with English and Maths Literacy.
Prior experience in conservation or security roles preferred.
Physical fitness and ability to work long outdoor hours.
Basic data collection and reporting skills.
Driver’s license advantageous.
Strong sense of integrity, vigilance, and commitment to conservation ethics.
