**Company Overview**

The company is a OEM of construction equipment, earthmoving equipment, materials handling equipment, pre-cast manufacturing equipment, leisure vehicles, business includes a fully equipped mechanical workshop, after sales support and parts departments among others.

**Position Overview**:
The Workshop Manager will oversee all aspects of workshop operations, ensuring efficient, effective, and safe maintenance and repair of diesel and yellow metal equipment as well as standard PDI processes and quality control. The role requires a strong background in diesel mechanics, specifically with a Red Seal qualification, coupled with excellent leadership, organizational, and managerial skills as well as strong administrative abilities.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Operational Management**:

- Supervise daily operations of the workshop, including scheduling, workflow, and resource allocation.
- Ensure all repairs, maintenance, and servicing are performed to the highest standards.
- Monitor and manage workshop productivity, ensuring timely completion of jobs.
- Managing costs and expenses.
- Supplier negotiations for best pricing, service offerings and SLA’s
- Fleet management including services, repairs, logs, driving reports, tracker management, vehicle trade ins and procurement of new vehicles, co-ordinate branding with marketing department.
- Management of company driver including effective route planning and scheduling
- Effective and accurate (cost saving) management of resources including on site diesel, collection of used material etc.
- Implement preventative maintenance and services procedures
- Assess current procedures for areas of improvement, proposals and implementation of new practices and procedures
- Warranty management on equipment in the field
- **Team Leadership**:

- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of mechanics and technicians.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide training, and facilitate professional development.
- Foster a positive and productive work environment, ensuring adherence to company policies and safety regulations.
- **Technical Oversight**:

- Utilize your Red Seal qualification or at least 10 years related/relevant experience to provide technical guidance and support for complex diesel and yellow metal equipment repairs.
- Stay current with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices to implement improvements.
- **Quality Control**:

- Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure all work meets or exceeds industry standards.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of work performed, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
- **Inventory and Resource Management**:

- Oversee the inventory of tools, parts, and supplies, ensuring availability and proper storage.
- Manage procurement processes for necessary parts and equipment, working within budget constraints.
- **Sales Staff Interaction (Internally)**:

- Communicate with sales consultants / representatives providing updates on job status and address any concerns.
- **Customer Interaction (Aftersales and Repairs)**:

- Communicate with clients to understand their needs, provide updates on job status, and address any concerns.
- Ensure customer satisfaction through high-quality service and professional interactions.
- **Health and Safety Compliance**:

- Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Conduct regular safety training and audits to minimize risk and maintain a safe working environment.
- **Reporting and Documentation**:

- Prepare and maintain detailed records of maintenance and repair work, including costs and time sheets, all job cards and supporting documents etc.
- Generate regular reports on workshop performance, issues, and achievements for senior management.

**Qualifications**:

- **Education**:

- Red Seal certification as a Diesel Mechanic or QBE qualification (at least 10 years experience)
- Relevant technical diplomas or certifications related to diesel mechanics or mechanical engineering are advantageous.
- **Experience**:

- Proven experience as a diesel mechanic in the yellow metal industry or a related field.
- Proven previous experience in a managerial role
- **Skills**:

- Excellent problem-solving skills and technical expertise in diesel and yellow metal equipment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
