**Requirements**:

- A relevant Degree in a field such as Environmental Management,

Environmental Sciences, Development Planning, Engineering or
Resource Economics related qualification is required.
- At least 10 years’ relevant experience at an appropriate level.
- Experience in Environmental Management and/or Local

Government with experience in management, policy formulation,
project and process management
Key Performance Areas
- Manage develop, coordinate and facilitate an effective business

management approach for the Environmental Management
Department and the City of Cape Town.
- Manage and develop the City’s environmental fiscal strategies to

ensure that the environment and related programmes are
adequately resourced and funded.
- Manage, coordinate and build the City’s external and international

environmental funding programme through national and
international partnerships.
- Manage, design and oversee the ongoing implementation of key

environmental programmes, build the department’s capital project
implementation capacity, ensure highly effective and efficient
capital project development and implementation, develop capital
project proposals, and funding mechanisms and build meaningful
partnerships around large capital investment projects.
- Manage and coordinate the department’s annual budget,

prepare annual operating and capital budgets, develop and
maintain a 5 year departmental business plan and report on all
financial aspects of the department.
- Manage and oversee the strategic administrative aspects of the

department, working in close liaison with other directorates and
departments.
- Manage, develop and oversee key partnerships with strategic

organisations, institutions, communities and government agencies,
both nationally and internationally.
- Develop and build the City’s international profile as it relates

specifically to funding and investment opportunities for sustainable
development and resilience to climate change.
