**The Associate Scrum Master is the entry-level job of the Scrum Master job family. The Associate Scrum Master helps to guide and coach the organization and team in the use of scrum / agile practices. They boost the effectiveness of teams by managing less complex technical programs, championing delivery success and operationalizing underlying processes to make development teams hum effectively. Associate Scrum Masters resolve impediments, monitor and have control over the scrum processes and meetings.**

**Key Roles and Responsibilities**:

- Fosters Agile values and practices.
- May begin to support a scrum team.
- Ensures team adherence to Agile principles.
- Assists with coaching a Scrum Team on how to execute the Agile framework.
- Experiments with processes and tools that encourage continuous improvement to optimize velocity and quality while mitigating risk.
- Partners with the Solution Delivery Managers to assist with ensuring formal agile principles, discipline, practices and techniques for the delivery of all projects.
- Works in partnership with the Senior Scrum Masters to protect the team from outside influences to ensure the team remains focused on Scrum Team priorities.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders and assigned development teams to assist with planning and developing scope, deliverables, required resources, work plan, budget and schedules for new project initiatives.
- Develop new project initiatives to support the strategic direction of the organisation.
- Direct and manage end to end project delivery including acting as a scrum master in accordance with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) approach or similar.
- Clearly identify stakeholders and keep them updated and engaged on an ongoing basis.
- Set and continually manage project expectations with team members, other scrum masters, product managers and other stakeholders.
- Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones, including full-scale project plans, using appropriate tools.
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate team members.
- Track project milestones and deliverables.
- Assume responsibility for the agile team members and vendors.
- Resolve project scope issues.
- Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the agile team.
- Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
- Champion delivery success throughout the team and champion the early delivery of incremental benefits.
- Ensure deliverables from team will form an integrated business solution.
- Collaboratively identify and synchronize project inter-dependencies across multiple teams.
- Navigate changes and risks that affect the programs.
- Facilitate effective resource allocation across the programs.
- Evangelize Scrum and Agile Development best practices throughout the company.
- Serve as a point of contact for geographically distributed teams.
- Assist the Solution Delivery Managers with executive status reports for business stakeholders.
- Help drive and improve the Program Management Office (PMO) processes.
- Drive continuous improvement of best practices and tools for project execution and management.

**Required Knowledge, Skills and Attributes**:

- Minimum of 2 years Project Management experience with the delivery of similar IT solutions of which at least 1 year must be as a Scrum Master using a proven Agile approach
- Understanding of agile delivery methodologies.
- Outstanding leadership, facilitation and organizational skills.
- Self-motivated and capable of managing multiple priorities and tasks as delegated.
- Ability to drive teams to deliver under tight timescales with finite resources.
- Ability to deal with multiple projects and deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
- Ability and willingness to step down to a team level in order to assist the team with delivery where required.
