**VACANCY - THERAPEUTIC WORKSHOP ASSISTANT**

**Irene Homes**isa non-profit organization of the Anglican Church of South Africa based in Centurion. We provide residential care and protective workshop services to persons with an intellectual disability.

**POSITION**:
Irene Homes seek to appoint a female Assistant, with prior experience in a Therapeutic Workshop for adults with an intellectual disability, on a permanent basis at their facility in Centurion, Pretoria.

**STARTING DATE**: 1 March 2025

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Minimum educational qualification: Grade 12
- Applicant must be a South African Citizen
- Applicant must provide proof of a valid SA Driver’s license. (A PDP would be an advantage)
- Proven experience of at least 5 years working with persons with disabilities, including physical disabilities and intellectual disabilities of various levels
- Ability to teach different activities and educate people with intellectual disabilities
- Ability to work in a team of professionals, other core staff, clients and the Public
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to a changing environment
- Must display good communication and social skills
- Proven knowledge of a variety of crafts, sport, games, leisure and cognitive activities that can be used in the stimulation and development of persons with intellectual disabilities will be a recommendation

**RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO**:

- Assist the persons with intellectual disabilities in directed activities and teach them appropriate skills
- Follow and execute the programme as directed under guidance of the Workshop Facilitator
- Keep proper records of all incidents, sessions executed and progress of individuals
- Communicate daily with the Workshop Facilitator
- Execute basic administrative tasks as required
