**_ Position Purpose:_**

The Senior Manager: Infrastructure and Operations is responsible for the strategic leadership to plan, coordinate and oversee

the implementation of technology solutions in alignment with business objectives and operational requirements, ensuring

consistency with the overall IT strategy aligned to TP business strategy

**_ Position outputs:_**

Accountable for the planning, directing and managing the IT infrastructure and Operation Department in order to ensure the

development and implementation of robust, reliable, secure and cost-effective IT Infrastructure solutions.

Manage the team responsible for deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade and support of all IT

systems, including telecommunications, servers, PCs, operating systems, hardware, software, peripherals and office

automation equipment.

Contribute to defining and implementation of IT policies, procedures, and best practices to support the implementation of

strategies set by Transnet IT community, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing

and service provision.Ensure the continuity of core IT Infrastructure, network and services encompassed in the Business

continuity plan and ensure effective disaster recovery plans are in place and tested regularly.

Development of infrastructure strategies, business plans, roadmaps and budgets.

Prepare and/or approve, business cases, business requirements specifications, scope of work, statement of work and other

related documentation for infrastructure projects and support efforts.

Ensure that all projects within this section are executed according to Transnet project governance requirements, adhere to

compliance with Transnet policies, regulations and procedures and within timelines and budget.

Prepare and/or approve, business cases, business requirements specifications, scope of work, statement of work and other

Negotiate with vendors, outsourcers and contractors to secure infrastructure specific projects and services that are costs

effective and fit for purpose.

Provide technology architecture leadership and oversight to projects and ensure that the solution implementation remains

aligned to the overall solution architecture.

Implement risk management, governance and compliance policies in own practice area, to identify and manage governance

and risk exposure liability.

Attendee and/or member of various Transnet and TP forums and committees.

Managing and monitoring of information security controls to ensure a protected environment.

Accountable for the development, support, maintenance and management of key contracts and service lifecycle

management.

Implement the ITIL and COBIT Framework to deliver all facets within the IT Landscape and IT General Controls according to

the Transnet policies.

Accountable for the financial management of operational and capital funding.

Demonstrate exemplary leadership behaviour, through personal involvement, commitment and dedication in support of

organisational values.

Select and recruit suitably qualified talent in line with Transnet’s Property values.
Drive a culture that guides and directs best practice, fostering an environment of continuous learning, improvement and

Deliver on service level agreements made with clients and internal and external stakeholders in order to ensure that client

expectations are managed.

Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives as and when needed.

**_ Qualifications & Experience:_**

A minimum of a Bachelor Degree ( NQF Level 7 ) or an Advanced Diploma ( NQF level 7) in Information Technology,
Computer Science or Information Systems
A post graduate degree will be an added advantage
At least 8 - 10 years of IT and business / industry experience including architecture design and deployment, service
management, system lifecycle management, and infrastructure planning and operations
