Job Description

To provide legal solutions to legal and business challenges within a business area, to mitigate legal risks and partner with the business on the implementation of policies to comply with legal and regulatory requirements in relation to business processes.

To consult with internal clients to understand business requirements and provide sound legal advice pertaining to the drafting, vetting, review, dissemination and/or negotiation of legal documentation and processes, providing clear legal direction based on sound judgment.

Are you someone who can:

- Draft, review and manage contracting process from inception to implementation;
- To provide, timeously, professional advice and service in respect of legal matters to persons within the Business Unit.
- To monitor, analyse and evaluate the impact and legal implications of banking developments in the financial services industry and related areas, including the activities of competitors, both bank and non-bank, and to recommend effective courses of action.
- On request, and to initiate such advice and service as required particularly in the project space and in dealing with legal queries within the Business Unit.
- Achievement of Service Delivery Standards to stakeholders. Initiation of pro-active and effective communication and legal advice to clients. Provision of Legal support to business management in respect of all general legal queries
- Establish mutually beneficial relationships with stakeholders, that support thought leadership, innovative and integrated practice solutions.
- Achievement of Service Delivery Standards to stakeholders. Initiation of pro-active and effective communication and legal advice to clients.
- Demonstrate leadership behaviour through personal involvement, commitment, and dedication in support of organisational values.
- Maintenance of expert knowledge on relevant legislative amendments, industry best practices and provision of proactive advice and solutions to relevant stakeholders throughout the procurement continuum;
- To collate, gather and supply compelling and comprehensive evidence pertaining to fraud, criminal, and civil cases in order to support efforts to secure prosecution and conviction and ultimately minimize the Banks financial losses.
- Key performance areas are:

- Effective working relationships with stakeholders within the BU.
- Good understanding of legal matters in the technology space
- Assist with running sql queries in respect of subpoenas
- Provide legal expertise in technical projects
- Stakeholder liaison with procurement and other relevant areas.
- Timeous completion of all legal drafting tasks
- Have an LLB or LLM degree;
- Have technical expertise and can provide legal guidance in technical projects
- A honed ability to provide technical expertise and guidance in fraud matters which proceed to litigation
- Have at least 5 years of experience in a similar environment, of which 1 to 2 years ideally at junior specialist level;
- Sql experience an advantage
- Experience in drafting and negotiating agreements in the Information Technology space, including software, cloud and SaaS agreements will be advantageous.
