Maintenance Technician

**Signal Hill Products is looking for a Maintenance Technician**

**Position/Title: Maintenance Technician**
**Reports To: Head Brewer**
**Function: Brewing**

**Overall Responsibility**:
**The Maintenance Technician's responsibilities includes conducting general maintenance and repairs on facility equipment. The Maintenance Technician will provide functional leadership for plant maintenance within the designated Plant. Working closely with the team leaders, Production manager and a consulting engineer to ensure plant operations are maintained at all times to achieve safe, reliable & a cost efficient plants**

**Focus Area 1 - Maintenance**
- Perform maintenance on electrical / electronic installations
- Ensure proper execution and completion of all maintenance activities
- Accountable for equipment reliability and ownership of the entire maintenance process; provide guidance and oversee troubleshooting of equipment issues
- Assist production team with any requirements on standby basis
- Supports Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
- Establish and maintain an effective spare parts inventory
- Work with Management Team to contribute to long-term strategic planning
- Serve as point person for contract services associated with brewery utilities (e.g. glycol chillers, air compressors, boiler)
- Continuously support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all equipment

**Focus Area 2 - Procedure and Protocol**
- Management Develop, refine and document maintenance procedures
- Enforce protocol and good FMCG practices within the brewery
- Foster and promote continuous improvement and root cause analysis processes

**Focus Area 3 - Safety Management**
- Respond quickly in the event of an emergency, notify appropriate personnel and follow safety protocol
- Support Safety Initiatives
- Perform Food Safety and Quality related activities as part of the FSMS and QC functions

**Requirements of the Role**:

- Tertiary education, degree or diploma, in Electrical and/or mechanical engineering.
- Please note that mechanical is the preferred option with regards to education and experience
- Passed the relevant Trade Test
- Valid unendorsed drivers license
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant technical experience, preferably in the brewing, beverage or FMCG industry is required
- Experience/Certification with reliability centered maintenance preferred, (e.g. Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional (CMRP))
- Familiar with electrical systems such as controls, automation, VFDs, PLCs is essential
- Familiar with mechanical systems such as welding, part fabrication, fluid transfer, pneumatics and plumbing is highly desired
- Practical experience with high-speed bottling/packaging operations in food/beverage industries will be highly advantageous
- Good knowledge of the safety requirements
- Willing to work afterhours or on weekends as per the production demands.

**Salary**: From R3.00 per month
