This position is responsible for Digitising, grading of patterns ,creating all production markers and populating layplans. Responsible for accurately grading all patterns following established sizing standards by using existing grade rules and whenever necessary, creating new grade rules to support the fit and styling of the garments. Responsible for preparation of production markers tailored to specific P.O's and accommodating customised style adjustments. Responsible for finding the most efficient use of fabric across multiple colours and fabric bases. Reduction in fabric wastage and using "step lay" opportunities is a must. Deep understanding of woven and knitted fabrics, limitations and requirements when creating lay plans and lay depths. **Key Responsibilities**: - Creating and updating sample and production markers in the Gerber System - Digitising all patterns created manually and checking them for accuracy and that the standards are all met - Grading of all patterns - Creating markers for best material utilisation while respecting pattern and fabric quality boundaries - Updating grading of existing patterns as necessary. - Creating Lay plans to match Purchase order size/unit requirement with best possible utilisation of cutting table lengths, garment construction and fabric used - Following Production Schedule to complete all grading and grading verification on time. - Creating production markers for placement prints, ironing markers etc - Calculating yields for costing and material ordering purposes - Provide sizing information for trims as needed. - Responsible for the maintenance of plotters - Other tasks as assigned by Supervisor or Manager. **Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**: - Utmost attention to detail and accuracy - Team player with excellent communication skills - Ability to work independently, with little supervision. - Must be organised, detail oriented, team player, multi task oriented. - Effective communication & interpersonal skills required to build relationships across the business. - Knowledge of garment construction and pattern making is mandatory. - Strong computer skills - Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and especially Google suite - Able to meet tight deadlines. - Working in an open plan office - Takes pride in being innovative, respectful, passionate, accountable, and entrepreneurial while exhibiting personal commitment - Experience with wovens and knits across a broad base of product line - Meeting with product designers to discuss the base design. - Reading and interpreting our basic blocks, our dummy sizes and parameters - Great verbal and written communication skills - Active listening skills - identifying opportunities to reduce copies of patterns used to manage different fabric bases - Ability to carry and or lift up to 10 kg marker paper rolls - Energetic, outgoing, and positive attitude - Good organisation skills - Reliable and dependable - Ability to prioritise and manage time **Education and Experience**: - Grade 12 min - Pattern making diploma advantageous - 7 years min experience digitising, grading and marker making on both wovens and knits and over multiple product types **Superbalist is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
