Duties/Pligte- Participating in the selection and administration of postgraduate students in the CBCB.- Teaching modules in bioinformatics at undergraduate and postgraduate level.- Continuously updating taught undergraduate and postgraduate curricula to reflect advances in bioinformatics.- Managing the new structured MSc in Bioinformatics of Infectious Diseases and Pathogen Genomics to ensure the programme¿s smooth operation.- Participating in the general operation of the CBCB as arranged with the Director.-
- Supervising BScHons, MSc and PhD students.- Establishing a collaborative research network within the University, as well as nationally and internationally.Neem deel aan die keuring en administrasie van nagraadse studente in die SBBB.- Bied onderrig van modules in bioinformatika op voorgraadse en nagraadse vlak.- Werk deurlopend gedoseerde voorgraadse en nagraadse kurrikulums by om vooruitgang in bioinformatika te weerspieël.- Bestuur die nuwe, gestruktureerde MSc in Bioinformatika van Aansteeklike Siektes en Patogeengenomika, om te verseker dat die program glad verloop.- Neem deel aan die algemene werksaamhede van die SBBB soos met die Direkteur ooreengekom.- Vestig en bou 'n navorsingsgroep, verkieslik gefokus op die ontwikkeling en toepassing van masjienleer en KI in die beantwoording van vrae in biologie.- Tree as studieleier op vir HonsBSc-, MSc
- en PhD-studente.- Vestig 'n samewerkende navorsingsnetwerk binne die Universiteit, sowel as op nasionale en internasionale vlak.
Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes- A PhD in Bioinformatics, Applied Mathematics, Mathematics, or Computer Science, or a related field.- Teaching experience (as lecturer, or teaching assistant/tutor at tertiary level), or proven potential to teach undergraduate and postgraduate bioinformatics modules.- Proficiency in Python and R.- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.- Demonstrated potential to develop an active research programme.- Evidence of research outputs at peer-reviewed international conferences or in recognised journals in the field of bioinformatics or a related field.- Demonstarted potential to successfully compete for research funding at both local and international levels.'n PhD in Bioinformatika, Toegepaste Wiskunde, Wiskunde, of Rekenaarwetenskap, of 'n verwante vakgebied.- Onderrigervaring (as lektor, of onderrigassistent/tutor op tersiêre vlak), of bewese potensiaal om voorgraadse en nagraadse bioinformatika-modules te onderrig.- Vaardigheid in Python en R.- Uitstekende mondelinge en skriftelike vaardighede in Engels.- Toon potensiaal om 'n aktiewe navorsingsprogram te ontwikkel.- Navorsingsuitsette by ewekniebeoordeelde internasionale konferensies of in erkende vaktydskrifte in die veld van bioinformatika of verwante vakgebied.- Toon potensiaal om suksesvol mee te ding vir navorsingsbefondsing op beide plaaslike en internasionale vlak.
