**JOB OVERVIEW**
The primary responsibility of the Stock Control Manager is to monitor and report on the company’s inventory to ensure, at any given time, we know how much stock we have, where it is and the condition in which it is in.
You will be responsible for the daily monitoring, control and safe keeping of all stock in the warehouse, which includes (but is not limited to: fresh food, non-perishables, packaging, frozen meals, gifts and wine.) Together with your team, you will ensure that all inventory records (used to track and document the daily movement of stock) are accurate and up to date. You will need to oversee all stock takes and investigate and report on any discrepancies.
The Stock Control Manager will be in charge of all stock related people and activities in the warehouse, including: the receiving, storing, issuing and transferring of stock.
You are expected to have a thorough understanding of best practice around inventory controls and management and the ability to improve current processes and implement new ones.
To be successful in this role you need to be a trustworthy professional with outstanding record-keeping and analytical abilities. You should demonstrate excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, and be able to effectively manage and motivate a team.
**ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Monitoring daily stock activities across all stock in the warehouse

- Feedback to procurement around supplier delays, shortages, quality issues
- Monitoring of deliveries and recording issues

- Organize and assign warehouse and shelf locations
- Transfers
- Shipments between warehouses to be prepared and sent with the correct documentation

- Food team/NPD allocations
- Staff food allocations
- Ensure proper inventory control method (eg. FIFO) is used where appropriate
- Ensure stock records are updated accurately to reflect the stock movements
- Counts
- Plan and coordinate stock takes
- Ensure team are trained and high performing
- Weekly counts of all products/supplies
- Daily counts of high value items
- Investigate and feedback on all variances
- Including root cause analysis and learnings
- Authorisation of any adjustments
- Organize Storage
- Organization and cleanliness of all stock storage areas
- Reorganize stock room to accommodate additional inventory
- Follow a specific organization scheme that guarantees ease of retrieval and preparation of items for count
- Overseeing stock storage processes, including tagging, boxing, and labeling
- Ensuring stock stays in good condition, with no spoilage, and is used before its expiration date
- Removing obsolete stock
- Implement improved security and storage procedures to reduce loss and theft
- Maintaining Records
- Prepare detailed reports on inventory operations, stock levels, and adjustments
- Maintain an accurate inventory of both stock items and transactions, noting down dates of purchase and receipt, item count and details, issues encountered, and more. Consolidate this into regular reports presented to other department units such as procurement and finance
- Address and resolve discrepancies in inventory reports
- Conducting Audits
- Given the constant flow of products, undertake inventory audits to eliminate discrepancies
- Audits for small batches should occur every day/week, while large-scale audits may be performed monthly and annually. These involve checking for quality as well as making sure that finances add up and all products are listed in the inventory with correct details.
- Stock control policies, procedures and roles
- Ensure there is a segregation of responsibilities within the team
- Reviewing and developing existing stock control policies, as well as introducing new procedures and processes to best manage stock and drive improvements

**Requirements**:
- Education & Experience:
- Tertiary diploma or equivalent qualification (Certification in stock control/supply chain/management is advantageous).
- A minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role (Experience working in fresh foods is advantageous).
- Proven experience managing a team.
- Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Technical skills
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office/Google Docs.
- Ability to use inventory software/ERP systems.
- In-depth knowledge of inventory management principles and best practices.
- Detail oriented
- Spot issues and monitor products / people that do not meet standards
- Need to accurately process and record details, especially numbers
