This role is about crafting the stories that matter most to South Africa’s professional investment community. We are looking for a locally-based journalist who is driven and outgoing to lead a team of three full-time reporters, covering the South African asset management industry.To be successful you will demonstrate an ability to write and edit exclusive stories and breaking news, work with reporters on identifying relevant and unique articles, assess and edit thought-leadership and opinion pieces from external contributors, develop strong relationships with industry professionals and manage a team of reporters.

We publish news, analysis, and unique fund manager performance information to help professional investors make the best decisions about where to place their clients' money. **Main responsibilities**:

- Working with a team of journalists to chase news, develop contacts and write clean and engaging articles. These cover topics such as fund selection, fund manager profiles and insights, fund analysis and asset management industry news.
- Identifying articles from Citywire’s other international sites that would be relevant and interesting to the local audience.
- Working with external contributors, primarily from the industry, to identify and edit exclusive opinion pieces that add to Citywire’s local coverage.
- Building new contacts and establishing good sources.
- Chairing events and round table discussions, both online and in person.
- Interacting with Citywire’s global editorial team to share ideas, insights and articles.

**Job specific skills / technical skills**:

- Experience as an editor or senior reporter.
- A strong news sense and experience of writing both feature stories and hard news articles.
- Knowledge and understanding of the South African asset management industry and financial markets.
- A supportive leader who is comfortable working in a hands-on and collaborative manner.
