**DEPUTY MANAGER - MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS**

**JOHANNESBURG NORTH**

**Marketing and Communications Department**

**Reports to the Marketing and Communications Manager**

**Competency Profile**:
**Public, Stakeholder and Media Relations**:

- Manage the communication community outreach programmes as well as Enterprise and Supplier Development programmes

through social media, conventional mass media and related platforms,
- Liaise with journalists, field questions, issue media alerts and statements in order to entrench and maximise mass media,

public and stakeholder awareness and respect for the image and reputation of the Company,
- Monitor the reputation risk register,
- Liaison with relevant stakeholders inclusive of organised business and develop relevant collateral inclusive of presentations,

newsletters, speeches, video clips and social media banners,
- Represent the company at various meetings and stakeholder events, including and Provincial Expos, exhibitions and

conferences.

**Creative Design and Production**:

- Produce, develop and manage first-rate publications, print and electronic media and related collateral,
- Liaise with graphic designers and obtain approvals.

**Advertising and Brand Propagation**:

- Grow brand awareness,
- Create appropriate market demand for products and services of the company and position the brand internally and externally

as a DFI that leads B-BBEE funding nationally.

**Research**:

- Monitor impact and size of media coverage,
- Understand the changes and complexities in brand awareness and reputation and track these with the view to maximising

positive growth,
- Measure affinity for the company’s brand and products.

**Internal Communications**:

- Keep employees informed and mobilised to see themselves as ambassadors of the company brand,
- Publish an internal newsletter per agreed frequency.
- Manage the intranet

**Financial Management**:

- Lead price negotiations and manage the departmental requisition processes and obligations,
- Ensure integrity and cost management prudence and keep costs within budget.

**People Management and Strategy Development**:

- Lead, mentor and inspire a coherent, dedicated and skilled team,
- Contribute to ideas generation as well as the creation and implementation of a dynamic Brand Communications Strategy,
- Co-manage team performance and implement consequence management.

**Experience & Skills Required**:
Minimum 6 years’ work experience,
- Background in Journalism and media relations desirable,
- Intimate understanding of traditional and emerging marketing channels,
- Excellent communication skills, inclusive of outstanding writing and editorial abilities,
- Analytical skills to forecast and identify trends and challenges,
- Understanding of public relations, reputation management, creative design and brand management,
- Experience with creating a marketing campaign, marketing strategy and marketing plan,
- Travel, locally and internationally,
- Driver’s License.

**Qualifications**:

- Tertiary qualification in Marketing, Communications or Journalism
