Laboratory Supervisor

**LABORATORY OPERATIONS - TESTING & REPORTING**
- Incoming product - elemental/ chemical testing and verification of product COC’s as specified in the Laboratory Control Plan
- Manufacturing in-process product sampling testing as per defined work methods referenced in the Laboratory Control Plan.
- Management of 3rd party laboratory specialized testing.
- Finished product audits, including battery performance testing/ requalification for compliance to specified standards or as agreed by Customers.
- Representation/ reporting out of data in a statistical format for ease of review and understanding
- Ontime testing, processing of data and verification of records. Easily retrieval of records as and when required.
- Accuracy of test methods followed through observational audits. Ontime reporting of test results.
- Input to Approved Supplier Scorecards. Ongoing interaction with 3rd Party Laboratory to identify improvement opportunities and cost reductions.
- Test results evaluated and distributed to relevant members. Compliance to audit schedules.
- Customer feedback, observational feedback

**COMPLIANCE**
- Laboratory is operating according to the requirements of ISO 17025
- Identifies and reports risks or areas of concern to management within own department and area of responsibility.
- Strictly adheres to, complies with and assumes responsibility for enforcing Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental legislation, regulation toward minimizing risk, exposure, incidents or damage to the organisation and environment in any form or manner. **Compliance with ISO 17025 through audits.**:

- Identified Risks reported to Manager.
- Successful Audits in Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality.

**CUSTOMER SERVICE**
- Maintains effective working relationships with customers (both internal and external) towards rendering highest quality of services.
- Identifies and supports to solve problems collectively whilst demonstrating a high level of integrity in line with the organisations core values. **Positive Customer feedback**:

- Team player, referenced in Performance Review.

**STAFF SUPERVISION**
- Skills Matrix is mapped and managed to promote development and versatility of skills
- Identifies Laboratory Objectives and Conducts personnel performance appraisal reviews
- Up to date skills matrix with traceable competency records.
- Min of 2x performance appraisal reviews to be conducted annually

**Equipment & Budgets**
- Ensures that Laboratory equipment is well maintained and serviced as required.
- Contributes to the budget preparation process.
- Promotes, monitors and communicates the effective, efficient, economical and transparent use of financial and other resources.
- Explores opportunities to control and reduce costs.
- Timeously reporting of faulty equipment.
- Budget input provided in a timely manner.
- Cost and expenditure monitored - waste minimized.
- Opportunities to control and reduce cost presented and implemented.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

Diploma in Chemistry / Chemical Engineering or similar fields (NQF 6) Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry / Chemical Engineering or similar fields (NQF 7)

**MINIMUM ADVANTAGEOUS**

3 ~ 5 year’s experience in Laboratory operations within a Manufacturing environment of which:
1 ~ 2 year’s in a Supervisory/ Management Role 5 to 7 years in Laboratory operations within a Manufacturing environment (Preferable in a Chemical Industry) of which:
3 ~ 4 years in a Supervisory/ Management Role

Pay: R350 000,00 - R400 000,00 per year
