**Job Summary**:
**Responsibilities**:

- Install, configure, and upgrade database systems.
- Monitor and optimize database performance, including SQL tuning and resource allocation.
- Implement and manage backup and recovery strategies using DB2 tools.
- Ensure high availability and disaster recovery.
- Manage user access, roles, and security policies.
- Perform capacity planning and scalability assessments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database issues and performance bottlenecks.
- Document database architecture, procedures, and standards.

**Required Qualifications**:

- Matric and a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in DB2 database administration.
- Strong knowledge of DB2 architecture, utilities, and performance tools.
- Experience with disaster recovery planning and implementation.
- Proficiency in SQL and scripting (Shell, Perl, or Python).
- Familiarity with monitoring tools like DB2 Admin Tool, or IBM Data Studio.
- Certifications such as IBM Certified Database Administrator are a plus.
