**DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES**
- Install/Upgrade IBM Db2 LUW databases from version 10.5.x to 11.1.x.
- Install, maintain, and support IBM Db2 LUW server software and related products, including HADR with auto-failover.
- Install, maintain, and support the IBM Db2 LUW Client on Linux and Windows platforms.
- Install, maintain, and support IBM Db2 LUW monitoring software including IBM Data Server Manager (DSM).
- Develop project plans to test and implement new security patches and fixes as released by the software vendor.
- Provide technical support and maintenance of the IBM Db2 LUW database systems to ensure their integrity, availability, and performance.
- Provide knowledge transfer of IBM Db2 LUW database administration best practices to the MCD DAS database administrators.
- Document and refine the database upgrade procedures following the vendor’s recommended best practices and upload to the section’s Microsoft Teams channel and SharePoint site as required by MCD management.
- Monitor database performance via IBM DSM and Linux scripts and recommend improvements for operational efficiency, following vendor’s best practices.
- Monitor resource utilization of all systems and tune the IBM Db2 LUW databases as required, following vendor’s best practices.
- Perform space management, capacity planning, and data maintenance tasks for all IBM Db2 LUW database systems, including management of data and log files.
- Perform database backup/recovery of IBM Db2 LUW databases utilizing backup software.
- Prepare and submit request for changes (RFCs) thru the department’s Change Management system, as required by department process and procedures.
- Manage and maintain IBM Db2 LUW security via authentication and authorization of users, following the section’s best practices.
- Provide 24x7x365 database systems support of all IBM Db2 LUW databases for troubleshooting and problem resolution, including after-hours and weekends, as needed to maintain maximum system uptime and minimize service disruption.

**SKILLS & EXPERIENCE**
- Four (4) years of experience within the last six (6) years installing, configuring, and supporting High Availability Disaster Recovery technology, like IBM Db2 LUW HADR with auto failover.
- Four (4) years of experience within the last six (6) years in the writing, maintaining and supporting Linux shell scripts.
- Four (4) years of experience within the last six (6) years installing and configuring IBM Db2 Client on Linux, UNIX, and Windows.
- Three (3) years of experience within the last five (5) years working with IBM DSM, installing, and configuring new releases, setting up monitoring profiles for IBM Db2 LUW databases, monitoring these databases and troubleshooting performance issues.
- Two (2) years of experience within the last five (5) years supporting, monitoring, and troubleshooting ADABAS/Natural database systems.
- Two (2) years of experience within the last five (5) years working with Commvault backup/recovery software or a similar enterprise-class backup/recovery solution.

**REQUIREMENTS**
- DB2 Certification
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a production environment

**Job Type**: Permanent

**Salary**: R1.00 - R50,000.00 per month
