**JOB PURPOSE**
**Manage, plan, direct, coordinate and control**:
**1. Production at main plant area according to required specifications and quality standards.**
**2. The N1 Restaurant Cold Store activities.**
**ROUTINE TASKS**
**1. PRODUCTION.**
1. Ensure effective general management of all areas in the main plant and cold store.
2. Manage, motivate and control all the staff working in main plant and cold store area.
3. Ensure attainment and measurement of daily production and operational targets.
4. Check that staff are at work and report absentees timeously to Human Resources section.
5. Set and plan production goals and communicate it to key personnel.
6. Plan, document and measure the daily production output of all production lines and sections in the main plant and cold store area.
7. Organize, co-ordinate and control the daily production activities in the main plant area and cold store.
8. Plan daily production with all section managers taking into account worker capacity.
9. Ensure that line management and supervisors adhere to your instructions and perform their duties as per their job descriptions.
10. Coordinate and control issuing of raw materials.
11. Ensure finished product is checked for deviations from quality standards.
12. Ensure product is correctly weighed and labelled.
13. Ensure the correct and effective dispatch of orders from the quality control section.
14. Ensure good housekeeping practises in the chillers, freezers, cold store and dry stores plus monitor stock rotation in the chillers, freezers, cold store and dry stores.
15. Implement and maintain measures to reduce wastage of and damage to stock in freezers, chillers, dry stores and production area.
16. Ensure that temperature controls are adhered to and that the correct thawing procedures are followed.
17. Manage and evaluate machines and equipment to ensure productivity and mínimal downtime.
18. Strive to reduce expenses and increase productivity across all product lines.
19. Communicate any problems or obstacles to senior and top management.
20. Communication effectively with other sections, managers and supervisors.
21. Process, organize and report to top and line management on operations and production information.
22. Engage in regular product development and continual improvement exercises.
23. Organizing the repair and routine maintenance of machinery and equipment in your area of responsibility.
24. Estimating costs and assist in preparing budgets.
25. Selecting and ordering of packaging materials.
26. Selecting and ordering of dry ingredients - spices etc.
27. Identify staff training needs and organising relevant training sessions.
28. Provide production progress report to line management as requested.
29. Process, organize and report to top and line management on operations and production information.
30. Perform administrative duties as per required job functions.
31. Establish and enforce work schedules.
32. Assist in recruitment and placement of staff, establishment of organisational structure, delegation of tasks and accountabilities.
33. Manage relationship and communication between management, Sales, Production and Logistics.
34. Evaluate work performance of staff in all sections.
35. Ensure that staff are wearing clean undamaged uniforms as per company policy.
36. Ensure that functions are delegated where necessary.
37. Assist sales personnel in all customer and sales related issues.
38. Identify problem areas and devise practical, measurable solutions.
39. Manage, control and measure wastage and damage to products.
40. Ensure the setting of production times of each product.
41. Ensure regular block and yield tests and cost and selling comparisons of all products in order to achieve gross profit margins as per target limit.
42. Ensure the execution of preventative and planned maintenance of the premises, plant, refrigeration and equipment.
**FINANCIAL CONTROLS.**
1. Review financial statements, control and verify invoices.
2. Ensure the management and control of the company financial rules and procedures in all relevant sections.
3. Implement and maintain measures to improve profitability.
4. Ensure the costing control of products on a daily basis.
**QUALITY / FOOD SAFETY AND HEALTH & SAFETY.**
1. Manage, maintain and enforce food safety procedures and requirements.
2. Monitor, maintain and ensure that all personnel abide by specific conditions of employment and to all company rules, regulations, procedures and policies.
3. Ensure, manage and enforce good hygiene practices and housekeeping of all the areas in the plant, cold store included.
4. Manage, maintain and enforce quality standards, policies, procedures and requirements.
5. Manage, maintain and enforce health & safety legal requirements plus company health and safety procedures.
