An exciting new B2B Marketplace and e-procurement start-up is seeking a Category Manager to join them to drive the building, rollout, and growth of an Enterprise B2B Marketplace & E-Procurement solution.

The Category Manager's goal is to increase the sales and profitability of the categories to drive sustainable growth, provide insights into category spend analysis, understand buyers' requirements, source additional qualifying suppliers, and increase Gross Merchandise Value through the marketplace.

**Responsibilities**:
Analyze data or insights to determine industry and consumer trends regarding the product and category associated with the Buyers on the Marketplace
Create and develop a strategic long-term plan for the development of the category
Identify new sellers for the marketplace and engage sellers to onboard
Understand company vetting procedures and ensure compliance with buyer guidelines and local regulations
Build and drive relationships
Lead category projects to optimize ranges for the buyers
Collaborate with buyers to expand product categories based on category requirements and needs
Drive Gross Merchandise Value through the Marketplace
Manage / facilitate budget development and revenue for the category in line with buyers financials
Develop strong working relationships with buying, marketing and operations teams within the Business' customer base

**Requirements**:
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, or related field
Master's Degree in Business, Economics, or related field (preferred but not essential)
Certification in Purchasing & Supply (preferred but not essential)
Previous experience in Category Management
Strong knowledge of category management, marketing, and sales principles
Ability to analyze and develop accurate conclusions to support category decisions
Understanding of the African market, buyers and seller insights and trends
Strong people management
Strong negotiator
Analytical
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Good understanding of numeracy
Ability to interpret analytical data
