The IIE (Pty) Ltd is the registered provider of higher education which is offered through the following educational brands: IIE Varsity College, IIE Vega School of Brand Leadership, IIE MSA, and IIE Rosebank College. The Independent Institute of Education’s Central Academic Team is responsible for the academic leadership and governance of the work done at the brands while each brand is managed as a business entity by its own divisional management team.

This position is within the central IIE academic team. The IIE, as registered provider has ultimate responsibility for registration, curriculum, delivery, assessment and certification of all education on these sites as well as for relationships with external partners particularly in the regulatory and accreditation arena.

The IIE operates through six faculties supported by the Dean Academic Support and Development, and Dean Research and Postgraduate Studies and has established academic operations, compliance and academic leadership infrastructure and processes.

The IIE (Pty) Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of AdvTech Ltd which is listed on the JSE.

**Reporting To**:
The Senior Operations Coordinator: Research and Postgraduate Studies will report directly to the Dean Research and Postgraduate Studies.

**Level and Scope of Responsibility**:
The Senior Operations Coordinator: Research and Postgraduate Studies will be responsible for ensuring effective interaction between the Office of Research and Postgraduate Studies; faculties and brands with respect to all matters related to the IIE and the Research and Postgraduate Studies Office but in particular towards the support of the Dean in managing the administrative functions of both the research and postgraduate studies within the institution.

As this is a senior administrative appointment it is not expected that the full range of activities will be encapsulated within a position description - instead, a person is expected to act responsibly within at least the following range of responsibilities.
**Key Areas of Responsibility Include**:
**Higher Degrees Committee**
- Administering the Higher Degrees Committee meetings accordingly.
- Act as committee secretary for the Higher Degrees Committee meetings and ensure that minutes are typed and submitted to the Research and Postgraduate Studies Committee meeting for noting.
- Managing the administration of Higher Degree qualifications with specific reference to the below but not limited to only these tasks:

- Liaise with the brand representatives on the collating and tabling of examiners for Higher Degree qualifications for approval at the Higher Degrees Committee.
- Contracting external examiners as per the requirements of the IIECAT Human Resource policy and ensure that examiners are remunerated.
- Distribute the higher degree dissertations and/or theses to contracted examiners and conduct follow ups on the examiners reports after relevant due date has passed.
- Liaising with external examiners and brand programme coordinators in the collection of higher degree dissertations or thesis for dissemination to the contracted examiners.
- Share the examiners reports with brand programme coordinators once received back from examiners.
- Liaising with brand representatives to ensure that the tracking of all higher degree qualifications is documented correctly on the relevant postgraduate tracking system.
- Ensure that any changes made on dissertations and/ or theses at the higher degrees committee post ethical clearance approval is noted accordingly at the Higher Degrees Committee prior to student submitting for examination.
- Engage with brand information managers to ensure that all examined Masters Dissertations and Doctoral Theses are uploaded on The IIE repository.

**Research Administration**
- Update the request to conduct research letter tracker.
- Liaise with the brand representatives on the collating and tabling of the allocated supervisors on the Higher Degrees programmes for noting at the Research and Postgraduate Studies Committee.
- Assist with research incentive claims administration from IIE staff.
- Assist with the processing of research incentive claims for IIE staff as and when required.
- Demonstrated commitment to the development, implementation, and monitoring of all IIE policies.

**General Administration**
- Ensure that the research website page is updated accordingly.
- Ensure that all policy templates and annexures are loaded correctly on the Tertiary Hub folders for brands to access.
- Upload of research material to the Research Community of Practice page.
- Setting up training sessions with IIECAT and Brands as and when required.
- Assist with the communication documentation that falls within the remit of the Research and Postgraduate office to the IIE’s in-house style, as required by the Dean: Research and Postgraduate Studies.
