**Varsity College and IIE MSA **is an educational brand of The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE). The IIE enjoys the reputation of being at the forefront of private higher education in South Africa and is registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) to provide higher education qualifications accredited by the Council on Higher Education (CHE).

**The IIE Varsity College and IIE MSA have a vacancy for a Chief Financial Officer at the Waterfall National Office based in Midrand.**

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

**Financial Strategy Design and Implementation**
- Designs and implements The IIE's Varsity College and IIE MSA's financial strategy and plan as aligned to the overall business strategy to support business sustainability and growth.
- Directs the financial planning, budgeting, and procurement activities.
- Manages the overall financial health of the business including cost and asset management.
- Prepares financial models based on business requirements as well as programme feasibilities to support business objectives.
- Implements and ensures compliance with accounting policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities such as budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting as well as evaluates financial performance.
- Sets targets and objectives to support the achievement of financial goals and business goals.
- Develops and recommends annual budget for approval and prudently manages business resources within those budget guidelines according to current laws and regulations.
- Analyses the financial details of past, present, and expected operations and produces accurate and timely reports so as to identify development opportunities, areas where improvement is needed and to facilitate timeous decision making.
- Contributes and customises Group financial and business planning frameworks within which managers can respond and contribute to effectively.
- Partners with the other Leadership Team members in relation to preparation of financial feasibility and other financial aspects.
- Represents The IIE's Varsity College and IIE MSA across Group committees.

**Strategic Risk Management**
- Defines and delivers Risk Management Strategy and oversees the implementation in respect of enterprise wide risk management.
- Oversees and manages compliance, internal audit and corporate governance.
- Evaluates risk and assesses mitigating factors / safeguards that may be implemented to reduce risk to the business.
- Determines and ensures the corporate governance compliance requirements in respect of limits of authority, accounting policies, procedures and controls.
- Ensures compliance with all statutory requirements relating to company law and accounting standards.

**Financial Reporting**
- Reports on the financial health of The IIE's Varsity College and IIE MSA at regular intervals.
- Oversees the implementation of monthly reporting capability in the Finance department.
- Oversees the monthly reporting across campus scorecards to assess financial performance.
- Provides monthly detailed business reviews of campus performance.
- Provides income statements and performance statistics.
- Appropriately reports into Group on the financial results of The IIE's Varsity College and IIE MSA.

**Human Capital Management**
- Leads and manages the financial management team in the achievement of set objectives and targets by ensuring that The IIE's Varsity College and IIE MSA are high performing entities.
- Ensures that the financial management team's roles and responsibilities are clarified, performance objectives are set and managed and conducts performance reviews in accordance with policies and procedures and takes corrective action where necessary.
- Works in partnership with HR to ensure that a succession plan is implemented for the financial management team.
- Builds a pro-active environment where the financial management team can take responsibility for own results.
- Ensures identification of critical skills essential for sustainability of service delivery.
- Gives performance feedback to relevant staff.

**Governance and Compliance**
- Oversees the development and implementation of financial controls.
- Manages and monitors compliance to the approvals matrix.
- Oversees and manages the assets management plan.
- Supports the internal and external audit process.

**Operational Financial Management**
- Reviews internal controls relating to financial processes and implementation of enhancements, wherever gaps are identified.
- Ensures that all Cash Book and General Ledger Reconciliations are carried out on a monthly basis, to ensure the accuracy of financial information.
- Designs the finance operating model to service the business.
- Designs the operational finance model in alignment to the overall business strategy.
- Overall management and oversight of all debtors, creditor
