Junior Debt Transactor: International

What will you do?
Source suitable credit investments (senior, mezz, leveraged finance) for the International credit book within SanFin Financing Solutions. Manage and optimise the credit assets you are responsible for, identify new credit opportunities, and manage relationships with International bank syndicate teams, Asset Managers and other European based origination partners. What will make you successful in this role?

Deal making (i.e., origination of debt-related transactions), including:
Manage existing relationships, identify new opportunities and participate in refinancing of existing transactions;
Develop and build of new client relationships in order to originate new transactions;
In depth analysis of the terms and conditions applicable to transactions being considered for investment;
Negotiate and prepare investment guidelines applicable to fund investments;
Analyse corporates and identify those corporates best suited to debt funding
Financial modelling of transactions and preparation of cashflows
Liaise with various internal departments (legal, credit, treasury, regulatory, exchange control, etc) as well as with external advisors (lawyers, accountants, tax advocates, etc) as is necessary to implement transactions
Interact with other International based financial institutions in implementing syndicate or club type transactions
Comment on various legal agreements entered into to give effect to transactions
Management of deals through the full life cycle of the transaction
Prepare value add management information reports

Interact and collaborate within the Financing Solutions team and Market Solutions team
Interaction and collaborate within SIG cluster and across Sanlam Group
To be a centre of expertise on Credit for the Sanlam group

Structuring

Additional Skills and Competencies
Understanding of International credit markets
Experience in dealing with International banks and fund managers
Deep understanding and appreciation of credit risk when evaluating transactions
Understanding of market risks (Interest rate risk, FX risk, etc)
Due diligence expertise
Strong negotiation skills (including contract negotiation)

**Strong interpersonal skills to deal with all stakeholders**: clients, colleagues and to cooperate with other Sanlam business clusters
Should have a good network within the International debt market
Financial modelling skills/sound numerical skills
Good knowledge of accounting standards
Good written and verbal communication skills (including ability to make presentations).
Must be able to analyse financial statements and management interactions, with a view to identifying business risks that corporates may be exposed to, which affects the credit risk in a transaction
Ability to set up appropriate management reporting tools applicable to International listed credit investments as well as fund investments.

Preferred Qualification and Experience
CA (SA), CFA, MBA or other appropriate degree with 5+ years related experience
At least 2 years’ experience in International credit markets in an origination, credit analyst role or credit portfolio management role will be favoured. Qualification and Experience Degree or Diploma with 4 to 6 years related experience.
