**About the Junior Electronics Designer**

We are hiring a Junior Electronics Designer to join our team in Richmond Park, Cape Town. the purpose of the role is to help develop world class electronic products for Rubicon's various departments, including all aspects of modern design such as Hardware, Firmware, Software, Mechanical and Compliance. This role includes a diverse set of disciplines from power electronics to IoT communications.

**Role Responsibilities**:
Design and Development
- Design new hardware, including:

- General circuit design
- PCB layout
- Write firmware for:

- Microcontrollers (eg: STM / SAMD / PIC)
- Communications controllers (eg: ESP32)
- DSP (eg: TMS)

Compliance and Certification:

- Work on certification or compliance projects for new and existing products such as:

- CE
- Emissions compliance, etc

Teamwork and Collaboration:

- Work closely with the other development and tech support staff around the country to:

- Continuously improve technical internal and external communication.
- Provide support to resolve product issues.
- Investigate and document potential serial issues.
- Assist in product specification and development
- Participate in weekly national divisional meetings
- Continuously build and develop technical competency and skills.

Required knowledge, skills and qualifications:

- Electronics, Electrical or Mechatronics engineering degree or advanced diploma or similar;
2+ yrs experience in:

- Product Development; and / or
- Hardware development; and / or
- Software / firmware development
- Comfort with firmware and general programming in Languages such as Java, C, C++ etc.
- Design software and tools such as ALTIUM, Solid Works, Fusion 360 etc
- IoT development
- ESP, SAMD, PIC, ATMEGA, STM or other related microcontrollers
- DSPs such as TMS320
- Power Electronics and / or EMI / EMC
- Another relevant diploma or degree (e.g., renewable energy)

Availability & Ability to travel occasionally - locally and possibly internationally.

- Computer literacy - highly Computer literate and comfortable with technical aspects of common operating systems
- Microsoft Office general excellence
- Competent, professional business written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to express yourself clearly and effectively within the company.

- Ability to build internal and external relationships
- Excellent time management, organizational, and follow-through skills.
- Attention to detail while maintaining the ability to see the implications for the bigger picture
