Role Purpose
The purpose of the Senior People Statutory and Compliance Specialist role is to continuously monitor compliance and adherence to HR policies, procedures, processes and standards as well as ensuring ongoing HR compliance to regulatory requirements and prescribed industry standards. This role is also accountable to guide People Solutions, Services and Business in designing, testing and maintaining their People service continuity plans to ensure the People impacting risk factors and events are addressed in a cost-effective and efficient manner and issues for remedial action are timeously and sustainably solved, corrected and improved across the People value chain as applicable.
Role Description
Employee Centric Delivery
Reviewing regulatory alerts for RSA and non-RSA to stay at the forefront of statutory and compliance inputs in the People Team.
Establishing a system for monitoring People processes, practices, procedures and templates.
Measuring compliance, managing non-compliance and identifying deficiencies in internal People controls and People policies and procedures.
Ensuring ongoing People compliance to regulatory requirements and prescribed industry standards.
Supporting all regulated activities and the roadmap for a sustainable Compliance department within the People Team.
Managing the employee contract management process and execution thereof in accordance to People Legal requirements, ensuring adherence to laws, regulations, guidelines and specifications relevant to its business processes as advised by the Head of IR.
Ensuring compliance to the regulation associated with psychometric assessments performed within the Group.
Ensuring statutory reporting activities related to People are carried out.
Working with HO Solutions and business to develop and update People continuity plans in order to manage continuity of People services.
Continuously assessing the state of People continuity planning ant testing to ensure an appropriate level of resilience and recovery capability is retained, making recommendations to address coverage or adequacy risks
Ensuring that Continuity Testing is carried out on an ongoing basis.
People (Self, Team & Organisational)
Aligning participation to deliver relevant Statutory and Compliance services to the business.
Participating in the enablement of an innovative, agile and employee centric culture where employees are supported, empowered and valued within the Governance team.
Participating in the enablement of an employee wellness culture within the Governance team to ensure that employees are supported mentally, physically and emotionally.
Participating in the enablement of a culture of open and transparent communication within the Governance.
Financial, Reporting & BI
Managing of oversight and governance costs whilst ensuring service delivery to the Group.
Managing the collection and use of oversight and governance data and business intelligence to transform the delivery of oversight and governance services.
Governance & Compliance
Ensuring compliance with organisational and legislative governance frameworks, legislation and
standards.
Adhering to governance structures, policies, processes, frameworks applicable to the role.
Adhering to compliance and risk management standards.
Ensuring adherence to the Anti-bribery and Corruption, Anti-terrorism, Gift, Conflict of Interest, POPI and the Enterprise risk management policies within the People function.
Ensuring data management processes adhere to continually changing privacy and legal compliance requirements.
Future-Fit
Participating in the integration and effective flow of work with other solution areas and business.
Identifying relevant technology requirements for the Governance team and ensuring optimal utilisation thereof.
Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in governance, compliance and related processes to ensure ongoing process efficiency.
Qualification and Experience
Degree in Human Resources, Legal, Finance, Audit or equivalent - (essential).
+4 years in a Senior People Statutory & Compliance and/or Oversight & Governance capacity or equivalent role, delivering and advisory services in an HR/Finance environment within related governance/ statutory frameworks, policies, procedures and guidelines - (essential).
Experience within the FMCG, retail sector or similar - (preferred).
Demonstrable knowledge of HR orientated Statutory & Compliance and/or Oversight & Governance within the FMCG, retail sector, understanding of the challenges of HR Statutory & Compliance and/or Oversight and Governance in a Group, retail environment - (essential).
Knowledge of HR policies, procedures, legislation and regulations - (essential).
