**Job Purpose**:
The Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to support the Provincial Lead Agency for Coastal Management in the undertaking of its legal mandates for, and promotion of, integrated coastal management, including coastal impact management, estuary management, and the implementation of programmes and projects. This post is based in Cape Town, CBD.

**Minimum Requirements**:
An appropriate Honours Degree in Natural, Environmental or Engineering Sciences (or an equivalent qualification); A valid (Code B) driving license.

**Recommendation**:
Working knowledge and relevant experience of the following: Coastal and / or Environmental Management and / or Estuarine Management; Project Management; Facilitation and / or Stakeholder engagements.

**Key Performance Areas**:
Supporting the administration and implementation of the NEM:ICMA and other applicable legislation, regulations, policies and strategies pertaining to coastal management; Providing technical advice in support of the administration and implementation of NEM:ICMA and other applicable legislation, policies and strategies pertaining to coastal and estuary management; Support compliance and enforcement of NEM:ICMA; Supporting the development and implementation of provincial and municipal coastal management programmes and projects; Conducting research and assist with the development of coastal management and estuary management related policies, programmes and projects; Support the implementation of the Provincial Estuarine Management Programme which gives effect to the NEM: ICM Act: National Estuarine Management Protocol; Driving initiatives to enable mainstreaming of coastal and estuary management into provincial and local governmental programmes.

**Remuneration**:
R 451 587 per annum (OSD as prescribed)

Note on remuneration: Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc. MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees' service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
