**Job Purpose**:
The Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to provide licensing of waste facilities in terms of the National Environmental Management Act: Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations, the National Environmental Management: Waste Act (Act 59 of 2008), registering waste facilities in terms of National Norms and Standards, investigating complaints and transgressions, conducting audits on waste facilities. This post is stationed in Cape Town, CBD.

**Minimum Requirements**:
An appropriate Honours Degree in Natural or Physical Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Engineering (Civil) Sciences or related; A valid (Code B) driving licence.

**Recommendation**:
**Key Performance Areas**:
Administer the waste management licensing process through the review and evaluation of waste impact and technical reports and the drafting of waste management licences; Assist with general office management, Financial management, Human Resource Management and Administration; Ensure compliance monitoring and enforcement of relevant waste management legislation with respect to statutory obligations; Develop, implement and review waste management licensing processes, systems, policy measures and specific projects relating to waste management licensing; Provide specialist advice and develop policies, legislation, norms, standards, minimum requirements guidelines of geohydrological, geotechnical and technical design aspects of waste management facilities and specific projects relating to waste management licensing.

**R 420 318 per annum (OSD as prescribed)**
