**_ Position Purpose:_**
Serve as costing expert, and in so doing provide financial due diligence and operating costs analysis, and make
recommendations in support of key strategic business decisions that could fundamentally reshape the operating cost core of
TPT
**_ Position outputs:_**
Process owner of Costing Models, systems and Methodologies:
- Development and enhancement of Costing methodologies and systems in order to understand the impact of various cost
drivers across various sectors
- Benchmark current process costs in order to assist and support Operations in identifying and eliminating waste
- Verifying the process flows for handling each commodity at every terminal and ensuring that there are accurate and
complete, ensuring models are updated, accurate and reliable across TPT.
Gain share Bonus Pay-out
- Verifying and calculating the gain share provision across Bulk, Breakbulk and Automotive sectors
- Obtaining the necessary sign offs from each TEM for audit purposes
- Calculating the gain share pay out % and obtaining approval from GM HR and CEO.
- Liaising with TIA for any audit findings
- Calculating gain share provisions based on estimated results and assumptions.
- Accuracy is extremely important as a mistake could result in TPT over or underpaying bonuses, which in turn could impact
employee relations.
- Commodity Pricing
- Providing Divisional Financial Planner, CFO and GM Commercial with relevant
costing information so that they can assess and deliberate on:
- o new customer / new business pricing
- tariff reprieves requested by customers
- Ensure Commercial Pricing manager has relevant annual operating cost inputs
that support the Commercial pricing models which play a role in the annual tariff negotiations
- Overseeing costing iro capic submissionS.
- Ensuring that the allocation of resources (i.e. Labour & Equipment) to
- commodities are correct and reflect the current operations.
- Reviewing the allocation of labour and overtime costs to activities and commodities and also ensuring that they are all
accounted for and balances to SAP Income Statement.
- Ensuring costing models are modified with changes to operations and adding of new commodities handled.
- Provide training to new management accountants and their assistants on how to update and use the ABC models.
Terminal Profitability Analysis
- Preparing profitability analysis for all TPT terminals taking into account past results and future trends
- Providing insight on benchmarking, lessons learnt and making recommendations on initiatives to improve financial health of
terminals.
- Opex High Value Tender (HVT) Moderation and Negotiations
- Moderation and sign-off of Financial evaluation of HVTs, including recommendation to the Divisional Acquisition Council
- Mandated to participate directly in procurement opex tender price negotiations, thereby ensuring TPT achieves optimal
value for money
- Management of opex tenders submitted to finance and perform financial evaluations on all opex tenders and provide
recommendation to the Divisional
- Acquisition Council.
Month End Duties
- Updating Latest Estimate changes on SAP and balancing the relevant cost
categories to final LE verified by Divisional Financial Planner.
- Providing SAP CO support to Divisional Management Accountant.
Project Factory
- Finance Support to cost champion for materials handling and contract services
- Preparing due diligence analysis for insourcing and outsourcing for stevedoring
and material handling at Richards Bay
- Making recommendations to TPT exco members on results from the due diligence analysis.
**_ Qualifications & Experience:_**
- B.Com (management accounting, costing or similar (CIMA an advantage)
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience
**_ Competencies:_**
- FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES- ABC Costing
- Strong Financial Modelling and excel skills
- Good understanding of economic principles
- Understanding of TPT / Port Operations is a strong advantage
- Knowledge of financial systems (eg SAP) is an advantage
