- Payments Senior Risk Manager**Job Purpose**
- The Payments Senior Risk Manager role supports the Head of Risk in the continued implementation, embedding and development of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework into the first line Payments Functions within Solution Innovation. The incumbent will work closely with the three lines of defence on the management of operational risk and support programmes of work aimed at enhancing the Nedbank risk management capability.**Responsibilities**:

- Promote an operational risk culture and focus across the business (eg. through the delivery of first line risk training) to ensure risk is always considered and promote a culture of risk transparency.
- Contribute to and support the implementation of a 1LOD risk model for the Payments Functions (and other areas of Nedbank as required).
- Support the Head of ERM with the creation and embedding of a systemic risk culture.
- Engage and build strong relationships with the three lines of defence as key internal stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with first line teams to review and maintain RCSAs. The role should ensure risks owners build good awareness and understanding of each risk, both systemic and non-systemic.
- Work collaboratively with first line teams to identify emerging risks that could result in a threat to Nedbank sustainability, especially any introduction of risk that could result in detriment to users of the payment systems and Nedbank managed services.
- Support the first line teams in continually reviewing the effectiveness of controls to ensure they are managed appropriately, particularly around: new customers joining; existing customer assurance; third party suppliers; introduction of new services or changes to existing services and ongoing Payments' operations.
- Design, implement, lead and embed control testing activity within the first line teams, ensuring segregation between colleagues who own the controls and colleagues testing the controls.
- Ensure risk management activities remain aligned with the Nedbank ERMF processes and tools, seeking assurance from second line Risk where needed.
- Ensure monthly risk reporting is generated on time for appropriate review and discussion by the Solutions Innovation Leadership Team.
- Ensure that various reporting is distributed timeously for various committees as per the reporting calendar.
- Minimum Experience Level- At least 5 years’ experience in Banking/ Financial services.
- Preferred Qualification- Honours degree in IT/commerce/risk management/ equivalent will be considered an added advantage.

**Technical / Professional Knowledge**
- Strong background and knowledge of financial services, ideally in payments or banking.
- Knowledge or experience of financial services risk management.
- Ability to establish trusted relationships to maintain open communication.
- Strong attention to detail, with a sharp eye for accuracy, and a focus on quality.
- Pragmatic and flexible attitude to adopt new approaches and techniques.
- Control design and testing experience preferred.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Advanced communication skills in all forms (written, verbal and listening), and ability to influencing senior stakeholders.
- Holding or working towards a Risk related professional qualification - Institute Risk Management or similar professional body would be an advantage
