Public Relations Manager

**Position**: _Public Relation Manager_

**Purpose**:

- The purpose of the Media Affairs Manager role is to contribute to the development of a positive public profile for the Group through proactive and reactive media management. In addition, develop and implement a media strategy in line with company directions and with consultation to promote media opportunities. The role also sources, prepares, and contributes to written material for communications channels such as media releases, internal and external newsletters, websites, social media, and any general publicity purposes. Maintaining the media relationships also plan PR activities for a positive branding image._

**Reporting to**: Director

**Qualifications/ Experience**:

- A Bachelor's or master’s degree in public relations, Communications, marketing or a related discipline_
- Extensive knowledge of the South African media, with vast media contacts, as well as comprehensive knowledge of the media sector, including broadcast, online, print, and social media._
- Strong understanding of reputation management and crisis communication._
- Solid experience with social media platforms such as blogs, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram_
- Possess strong relationships management and excellent, proven media relations skills._

**Responsibilities**:

- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with media members, including journalists, editors, and reporters._
- Monitor and summarize daily press releases, assessing both positive and negative coverage of the company and competitors. Provide support for press release copywriting and design, ensuring accuracy, effectiveness, and alignment with the company's messaging and branding._
- Plan and implement social media calendars, ensuring diverse content and optimized scheduling across platforms. Perform daily social media operations and monitoring, utilizing insights to inform PR strategy and tactics._
- Plan and strategize PR and CSR activities, including conceptualizing and organizing events, campaigns, and initiatives that align with the company's goals and values, effectively enhancing brand reputation and corporate social responsibility._
- Execute targeted media outreach strategies, leveraging a comprehensive understanding of the South African media landscape and extensive contacts._
- Craft and edit press releases and articles for various media outlets. Draft public statements and press releases to effectively convey key aspects of the company's projects, fostering positive third-party sentiment._
- Respond promptly and professionally to media inquiries and editorial comments, effectively managing the company's reputation._
- Manage crisis communication, developing reactive PR assets such as holding statements and crisis communication documents. Create crisis communication strategies and protocols to handle PR crises effectively._
- Serve as a company spokesperson, representing the company in broadcast and print media interviews. Promote positive narratives and achievements through media channels to shape a favorable public image._
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with government officials and stakeholders to navigate regulatory frameworks. Foster relationships with key industry stakeholders, staying informed about industry trends and developments._
- Stay updated on industry policies and regulations, providing insights and recommendations to adapt strategies accordingly._
- Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to integrate PR efforts with overall strategies._
- Monitor and engage with online communities on social media, effectively managing potential PR issues._
- Analyze media coverage, compile reports, and provide updates on the company's media presence and public perception._
- Utilize Chinese cultural knowledge and corporate experience to bridge cultural gaps and to support the company's operations within the local market in South Africa._
