Duties/Pligte
- Installation, daily maintenance and monitoring of computer systems and servers at Stellenbosch University. (This position may from time to time require after hours system maintenance.)
- Installering, daaglikse instandhouding en monitering van rekenaarstelsels en bedieners by die Universiteit Stellenbosch. (Hierdie pos kan van tyd tot tyd na-uurse stelselonderhoud verg.)

Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
- National Senior Certificate, with diploma pass requirements and eight years' relevant experience, **OR** a relevant IT degree/diploma with three years' relevant experience, **OR** a relevant IT certificate with six years' relevant experience;
- Already a system administrator working with server software daily;
- Sound knowledge of Linux as operating system;
- Sound knowledge of system architecture design and capabilities;
- Sound knowledge of system security;
- The ability to solve problems innovatively;
- Proven analytical skills;
- A high level of accuracy;
- Sound verbal and written communication skills in Afrikaans or English;
- The ability to work both in a team as well as independently;
- Outstanding interpersonal relations;
- The ability to take the lead in the field of expertise;
- The ability to transfer knowledge to peers;
- (The incumbent will be required to accept and sign the SU-system administrator code of conduct.)_
- Nasionale Senior Sertifikaat, met diplomaslaagvereistes en agt jaar toepaslike ervaring, **OF** 'n toepaslike IT-graad/diploma met drie jaar toepaslike ervaring, **OF** 'n toepaslike IT-sertifikaat met ses jaar toepaslike ervaring;
- Reeds stelseladministrateur wat daagliks met bediener programmatuur werk;
- Goeie kennis van Linux as bedryfstelsel;
- Goeie kennis van stelselargitektuur ontwerp en vermoëns;
- Goeie kennis van stelselsekuriteit;
- Die vermoë om probleme innoverend te kan oplos;
- Bewese analitiese vaardighede;
- n Hoë vlak van akkuraatheid;
- Goeie mondelinge en skriftelike kommunikasievaardighede in Afrikaans of Engels;
- Die vermoë om in spanverband asook selfstandig te werk;
- Uitstekende interpersoonlike verhoudinge;
- Die vermoë om leiding te neem op die vakgebied;
- Die vermoë om kennis aan kollegas te kan oordra.
- Kandidate kan aan aanleg, psigometriese en vaardigheidstoetse onderwerp word. (Dit sal van die posbekleër verwag word om hom/haar met die US-gedragskode vir stelseladministrateurs te vereenselwig deur die ondertekening daarvan.)_

Recommendation/Aanbeveling
- Any other IT-related industry qualifications;
- Experience with cloud-based capabilities;
- Experience with VMware virtualisation technologies;
- Experience with using automation/configuration management technologies such as Ansible, Puppet, or equivalent;
- Experience with creating and debugging Linux scripts;
- Experience with the use and administration of Solaris systems.
