**Main purpose of the job**:
- To provide best practice data collection, clinical assessments, collection of specimens and care according to protocols, and to provide pre-and post-test HIV counseling, PrEP initiation, and follow up
**Location**:
- **Ezintsha - 32 Princess of Wales Terrace, Parktown - Johannesburg**
**Key performance areas**:
- Screen potential participants and obtain informed consent according to SOPs
- Collect participant data and complete CRFs/study worksheets in accordance with GCP guidelines
- Conduct pre and post-HIV test Counselling at pharmacies or during home visits
- Refer participants to alternative care if necessary. Initiate PrEP according to DoH guidelines
- Diagnose and manage sexually transmitted diseases according to syndromic management guidelines and provide contraception
- Provide appropriate health education and adherence counseling to participants
- Draw blood from participants and send samples or specimens to the laboratory
- Maintain an inventory register of laboratory kits and supplies
- Support research assistants with recruitment and retention of study participants
- Review difficult cases with Ezintsha medical doctors
- Timeously respond to Quality control queries on study documents
- Facilitate services such as down
- and up-referrals
- Assist with SoPs that will improve the running of pharmacy or at-home visits
- Establish a baseline needs assessment for health systems improvement in the clinic
- Plan a tailored approach in conjunction with Provincial Managers and technical experts taking into consideration the needs and priorities of the pharmacies
- Develop a project plan and timeline for addressing the identified needs and priorities in conjunction with counterparts
- In conjunction with the clinical team, implement PrEP initiation within pharmacies
- Monitor and review the implementation and progress of the program work plans in conjunction with relevant stakeholders
- Review challenges and achievements
- Track changes made that lead to improved outcome measures at the pharmacy clinic level
- Compile and disseminate monthly reports to the Provincial Managers
- Integrate feedback from quarterly reports into program implementation plan and subsequent progress reports
- Compile relevant donor and Ezintsha reports
- Transfer quality improvement skills and methodology to pharmacy clinic counterparts and identify gaps in knowledge
- Participate in monitoring activities mandated by the Ezintsha project lead
- Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, feedback, and support
- Participate in ongoing mentorship programs initiated by stakeholders
**Required minimum education and training**:
- **Relevant Nursing Diploma or equivalent**:
- **_NIMART certificate is compulsory_**:
- **_Drivers license_**
**Required minimum work experience**:
- **Minimum 3 years experience in public health**
**Professional Body**:
- South African Nursing Council
**Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities**:
- Certification in good clinical practice
- Certification/experience in HIV Management
- Sound technical knowledge of PrEP, ARV, TB-HIV integration, treatment, and care of infectious diseases
- Knowledge of national, provincial, and district health structures
- Experience working in a donor-funded organization/NGO or project-based environment
- Knowledge of clinical systems and data management
- Experience in training, material development, and quality improvement
- Exceptional organizational and administrative skills together with working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Ordered and systematic in approach to tasks
- Attention to detail. Pro-active, able to exercise discretion and independent decision-making
- Self-motivated, able to work independently and work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Able to speak other African languages
