Maternal, Adolescent & Child Health Institute NPC, (MatCH) is a South African non-profit organization supporting public sector health services. MatCH implements donor funded projects to improve HIV and TB outcomes through providing technical assistance and direct service delivery support. **MatCH Institute NPC is looking to fill the following position: Location: MatCH Head Office: Durban (KwaZulu Natal Province)**
**Type of Contract**: Permanent
**Main purpose of the job**:The role of the CEO at MatCH is to provide overall leadership, accountability, and direction, ensuring that the organization's objectives are effectively and efficiently met with the relevant systems and controls in place. The CEO is responsible for developing strategies in close collaboration with the Board to foster the growth of the NPO. This position involves leading and managing the leadership team to achieve the set objectives for each operational project, efficiently and successfully. Additionally, the CEO ensures the effective implementation of the strategy, drives execution, and reports on results. Working strategically with donors to meet their expectations is also a crucial deliverable of the CEO's role.
**Key performance areas ** Provide clear strategic direction and leadership including strategic planning and budget developmentEnsure sound corporate governance within all facets of the organisation including reliable risk management and governance systems and processesEnsure programmes are appropriately resourced to deliver on objectives and outcomesOversee grant management and lead fundraising in furtherance of the organisation’s objectivesSolicit funding and partnership opportunities for the organisationProvide technical expertise in grant and programme implementationDevelop and maintain strategic relationships with key internal and external stakeholdersNegotiate contracts and budgets and ensure compliance with funder and organisation rulesPresent a public face as a dynamic, critical, and accountable local institution committed to improving public health careOversee the recruitment and selection process for the organisation and create a high performance cultureEnsure consistent compliance to company policies and procedures, corporate governance, and relevant legislation.
**Minimum qualification**Master’s degree in Business Management, Development studies, Public Health, or related field
**Minimum work experience**Experience: A minimum of 10 years' experience in senior management roles within NGO or donor-funded entities, with at least 5 years at an executive level.NGO Experience: Demonstrated experience working with international NGOs, particularly in environments funded by PEPFAR (the U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief).
**Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities**Strategic Thinking: Proven ability in strategic thinking, including the development and implementation of organizational strategies.Financial Management: Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, financial reporting, and donor fund management.Leadership Skills: Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team towards achieving the organization's goals.Stakeholder Engagement: Experience in effectively engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, including donors, government agencies, and community partners.Advocacy and Networking: Demonstrated ability in advocacy, networking, and building partnerships to advance the organization's mission and objectives.Knowledge of South African NGO Landscape: A comprehensive understanding of the South African NGO sector, including relevant regulations, policies, and best practices.Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively represent the organization to external stakeholders.Commitment to Ethical Standards: A strong commitment to upholding ethical standards, integrity, and transparency in all aspects of organizational operationsKnowledge of performance management including monitoring and evaluationProven fundraising experience and abilitiesProject management, administration, and grants managementFluency in one or more national South African languagesExceptional strategic thinking and an ability to analyse and synthesise data from a range of sourcesExcellent collaboration and partnering skills in a teamwork environmentAbility to manage multiple priorities and projects while working as part of a teamConflict handling, decision making, strong negotiation skills and resilienceAbility and willingness to travel.
Non-South African Citizens and non-South African permanent resident holders must be in possession of valid work documents authorizing them to work in South Africa.
