**ATTENDANT: ANIMAL FACILITY AND STUDY SUPPORT**

**2 (TWO) VACANCIES**

**6-MONTH FIXED TERM CONTRACT**

**Primary Job Purpose**

Cleaning of general areas within the research facility and cleaning of animal housing areas that includes the handling of animals, feeding and watering of animals, laundry handling and waste disposal.

**Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities**
- Cleaning of the facility and equipment by following set instructions and procedures to prevent contamination, achieve and maintain a clean, orderly and audit ready facility at all times and maintain and optimise animal health and wellbeing
- Interact and handle animals by following set instructions and procedures to ensure content, well-adjusted and cared for animals
- Feeding and watering of all animals in the facility by following set instructions and procedures to ensure healthy and well-cared for animals
- Handling of laundry, animal bedding, clothing and other materials by following set instructions and procedures to ensure a clean and healthy environment
- Handling and disposing of waste materials by following set instructions and procedures in order to comply with biosafety and other health and environmental regulations and to prevent contamination
- Record and handle raw data by following set instructions and procedures to ensure accurate and consistent information for departmental and study use
- Identify, record and report incidents, maintenance faults and issues impacting animal health, biosafety, injuries and other relevant company operations
- Observe the workplace rules at all times and report non-conformance to the relevant person as to ensure that all activities in the workplace are compliant with company rules, policies and procedures
- Relevant and additional identified duties required as assigned and/or scheduled

**Qualification and Experience Requirements**
- Grade 12 or equivalent or
- At least 3 months’ experience in a similar role
- Relevant experience in the general husbandry and cleaning of animal facilities will be advantageous
