Senior People Conservation Officer (Living Alonside
Wildlife)
**Requirements**:

- Relevant B degree in environmental education or nature

conservation
- 2 to 5 years’ relevant experience in the fields of People and

Conservation, Stakeholder Engagement, Community Conservation
and/or Environmental Education
- Exposure to social, ecological and educational issues pertaining to

protected areas in Cape Town
- Experience in conflict resolution with various stakeholders and

partners
- A basic understanding of the social and political environment in

Cape Town is advantageous
- Bilingual in two of three official languages of the Western Cape

(Afrikaans/ English/ IsiXhosa)
- Valid code B driver’s licence
- Computer literate (MS Office, Microsoft Outlook)
- This post necessitates that the incumbent be physically fit and able

bodied
Key Performance Areas
- Stakeholder and public engagement of the Living alongside Wildlife

and other programmes
- Assist in managing community engagement, awareness as well as

media campaigns
- Assist in developing educational programmes as well as people and

conservation programmes, plans, protocols and policies
- Engage with stakeholders and political structures, undertake

outreach and proactive community conservation programmes, and
facilitate workshops / meetings promoting the Living with Wildlife and
other environmental programmes
- Assist management with all aspects of people and conservation

projects and programmes to ensure successful implementation
- Guide and mentor staff members
