**Job Purpose**:
The Department of Infrastructure, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to provide technical services and support in engineering design and research related the maintenance and improvement of the provincial road network.

**Minimum Requirements**:
An appropriate 3-year National Diploma in Civil Engineering or relevant qualification; Compulsory registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as an Engineering Technician; A minimum of 3 years relevant post qualification technical (engineering) experience; A valid (code B or higher) driving licence.

**Key Performance Areas**:
**Competencies**:
Knowledge of the following: Structural engineering design of minor road structures (culverts); Hydrology and hydraulic design of road structures; Computer-Aided Design Software (AutoCAD or OpenRoads); Frame and finite element analysis of minor structures with the aid of computer software (Prokon); Relevant road infrastructure technical manuals, standards and procedures; Decision making; Team work; Creativity; Customer focus and responsiveness; Written and verbal communication skills; Computer skills; People Management; Planning and Organising; Change Management; Good analytical, problem solving, interpersonal and organisational skills; Good verbal and written communication skills; Computer literacy; People management; Planning and organising skills; Change management.

**Remuneration**:
Grade A: R 371 253 - R 396 522 per annum; Grade B: R 419 325- R 449 079 per annum; Grade C: R 472 812- R 556 080 per annum, (Salary will be determined based on post registration experience as per OSD prescribed)

Note on remuneration: Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD) are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees' service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
